    I want to lose muscle!!! (Kinda long)

    Ok, I'm 5'4 and 160lbs. of muscle! I have a very large frame/bone structure (I always thought it was a joke when people give the excuse, "I'm big boned") complete with broad shoulders, big ribs and wide hips. To make matters worse, I'm so muscular. I was a gymnast for about 13 years, cheerleader for 4, and I come from a line of body builders/muscle men so I think some is genetic. I wear a size 6/8 (my waist fits a 6 but my muscular thighs require an 8 and to make my life hell, god blessed me with little tits (34 B but on my body they look like little A's). My arms are cut better than a man's, but I'm not that strong at all, it's just how they look.

    The other night at my club, they had us wearing referee and cheerleader outfits b/c it was football night. Of course, I got trapped in the one piece, striped ref dress that gives no inclination that I have boobs b/c one needs cleavage for that dress. Well, I'm on the floor hanging out and I over hear this guy turn to his friend and say, "Dude, is that a guy or a girl" about me! They didn't know that I heard so I went over and started flirting in the girliest way I could. I even flashed a boob just to squash all doubts in their minds (even though he commented on how small they are). They tipped me but still, my night was ruined Even before I left the dressing room, I was telling one of the girls that I looked more like a football player than a sexy ref, so hearing that just made me feel awful.

    So, here's my question (finally): how do I make myself look more girly and less burly? What changes can I make in my diet/exercise program that will help me look leaner and basically make my muscles disappear? I'm sick of being asked by skinny male custys what my workout routine is b/c he wants to try it to get bigger... I DON'T GO TO THE GYM OR WORKOUT AT HOME!! Please help me!

    P.S. I need to lift my butt too. That seems to be the only place on my body where I have no muscle. It's already big (I'm happy with the size), it just needs some lift.

    Well me personally, I happen to like that sort of bodytype. Have you thought about strictly doing cardio?

    Well, I can see how you would be a bit flustrated. Most men prefer a more feminine look. Alot of us avid gum goers are jealous of you though. How can you be 5'4 and 160 of mostly muscle? without stepping foot in a gym anymore. Damned genetics. Anyway for health reasons you should still try and exercise. Like CK suggested go to the gym and do cardio. Obviously you are an ex-athlete so you must know how all that goes. As for your diet, I would suggest a modified vegetarian(fish ok, and nonfat dairy) grain based program from the food pyramid that would have you consuming several small meals every 2 to three hours.
    If I were you, I would play up your body type. Some guys do have a fetish for fit chicks. Perhaps you could do more of a fetish thing where you are the dominant one. Anyway those guys that were rude to you were probably making nasty comments about most of the women there, thats what groups of guys do.

    conventional diet of less calories and more healthy ones, however: limit your total protien intake, especially red meat. cardio will help, especially when you start to lose the muscle (you won't be able to metabolize as many calories passively).

    my mom suggested more cardio too (guess this means I need to stop being lazy and start running again), i'm just afraid it'll do something bad to my butt (make it sag more or something), probably irrational fear

    a few custys have suggested the dominatrix thing to me. i'd love to try it one day but i'm kinda shy and i know i'd be feeling silly as i'm slapping some guy around

    Pilates helps to "elongate" muscles...Helps you retain the strength but lengthen the bulk.

    Oh girl, I am so jealous. I'm 5 feet tall and 110 pounds & suffer from "Little Dawg Syndrome" where I think I'm bigger than I am. What I wouldn't give to be more built.....
    These are strange sounding tips, but it's working for me- some birth control pills make you lose weight, to the point where you eat more even to make up for the calorie drain but still don't get fat. I've been on 4-5 different types so I can't say which for sure. But it's worked for me- I was overweight last year & underweight this year. Yikes!
    Drinking daily will put on "curves" (honestly yes, on the belly too.) Buy a cocktail book & some liquor and become an amateur bartender.
    And yes, cardio can melt off muscle mass, and everyone should be doing cardio anyway to maintain heart health.
    (PS A homeopathic breast booster is 4-5 caplets of saw palmetto, taken daily. But check with your doctor first.)

    Maxine! Did you try the saw palmetto? Does it work? If so, I want it!

    For a quick fix, try wearing really tall heels (they spread your weight ovver a taller height, giving you the illusion of instant length) and long gowns htat close in an x-shape in fornt (that is to say, they tie or button over the boobs, then fall away rom your body) this also gives the illusuin of a longer, more flowing figure. Or, try 2-piece pant suits with long sleeves.

    Anything that gives you vertical lines is good. Avoid typical "stripper: outfits with the tiny skirt across the hips and a bikini top. These will make your boobs disappear and accentuate the width of your body, making you look stocky.

    If you get stuck wearing some goofy outfit dictated by the club, wear a push-up bra under it.

    I have thick legs, cut arms, and no waist to speak of, and these are my tricks!

    Also, I was thinking, since you do have this bodytype, have you ever thought about becoming a fitness model? Just a suggestion, but I think in your case, it would be very beneficial.

    Thanx you guys!

    CK, my dad suggested the fitness model thing when i was about 16. He used to be a pro body builder and is now a trainer/gym owner. He was visiting me when I was younger and offered to train me for competition (which meant moving to FL where he lives). Even though my dad and i haven't spoken in 3 yrs now (long story), I'm still considering it. I'm glad you mentioned it; that freshened the idea in my head.

    Greggy, people like you do well in fitness/bodybuilding competitions because you have the natural base there. I believe that you should do it, if for no other reason that to learn to love the body God gave you. Go for it and good luck!!!

    I would really like to get into competing as well. I'm working on it. I hope to get my start soon though.

    WoW i am in the EXACT same boat as you!! i am 5'4 and weighed myself at 160 this morning. Even though this is the heaviest i have ever been, this is the lowest my body fat has been as well...i am one big piece of muscle and have always been like this since i was a kid...did all sports possible!! only difference is i have 34 D breasts to even me out and a very small waist so i look really curvey. But i do want to lose muscle mass which isn't the easiest thing to do. what has been working for me is yoga. it has really helped to lengthen my muscles and give a more elongated look. i know how hard it is when everyone is telling you how great and toned you look when i cant even wear any of my jeans b/c i've gained so much muscle especially in my butt! amazing how we all want the opposite of what we have.

    wierd!! have you thought about doing pilates to lengthen your muscles... also, I know you're not fat, but if you lost some weight, that would help too.

    when I went vegan, I lost 30 lbs of muscle and became very petite. But I suppose that could seem extreme. Just cut down or cut out completely red meat/ soft drinks/ and sugars from your diet.

    Before you decide you are a solid block O muscle, what is your actual bodyfat %? Without that info, it's not possible to make such a conclusion. In my experience, which is vast in this area, many people who think they carry lots of muscle actually need to lose some fat. Not saying that's you per se, but....

    That's unhealthy, I'm sure not all of it was muscle. If you lose THAT much muscle, you could very possibly die.

    It was probably fat mixed with some muscle since when you go vegan it's harder to get protein.

    Everyone's right though, cardio, cardio, cardio. Doing high intensity for as long as you can will burn the muscle up but keep you lean. Think about the way sprinters look.

    As for your tush staying toned, lunge until you can't lunge anymore and then start squats. No weights, high reps.

    what everyone is saying is true to reduce bulk (fat and muscle). cardio - and also, compare the physique of a marathon runner with a sprinter. the long-distance/endurance runners have a much longer/leaner physique.

    ballet and pilates are brilliant too - especially for thighs/ass. you won't get a saggy butt doing pilates/ballet.

    Im sorry, im in disagreement here...

    Firstly its very difficult to know what situation you are in without seeing photographs of you...

    Secondly without meaning to sound rude... (although it may come across that way) is what bodyfat are you carrying?? the reason I ask is I am similar to you, very broad, 5ft 3" with a medium stocky build, stomach is flat weigh 147lbs but carry a bit more muscle...

    What im trying to say is don't EVER try to lose muscle. It could be that im very into fitness I say this but most importantly is hello the benifit? Muscle burns more then fat if you attempt to lose muscle you will become soft soft looks rubbish in comparasion to being defined imho.

    I would suggest firstly finding out your BF and secondly finding out what bodytype you are because all of this would play a part.

    I would also suggest making the most of your body not rebelling against it... I run a fitness site for women and there are women that would KILL for your bodytype. It is easier to lose bodyfat then to gain muscle...
