Default Vegas Clubs and raising kids

I love Vegas so much and one day I would love to live there and work at one of the clubs there but I dont really think Vegas is the best place to raise a kid. I have a young son and I would love to move us to vegas (he will be 1 in a couple weeks) i dont want to move us if it will be dangerous for him to grow up. I was wondering if any of you vegas girls live in a nice place that is easy to get to work and a good place to raise your kids and a good private school?

Actually I have friend that grew up there and she turned out okay. But for boys, I think it's an awful place, all the guys I knew that grew up there have been fukd up on drugs, abusive, and are complete head cases. Especially if you are dancing there. If you are going to do it, try to find a community an hour or so away and try to dance a max of 2 nights a week, or better yet, a few times a month.

Its your personal enviroment that determines mostly how your son will turn out.

I have two sons, and for the first half of their lives we lived in Fort Green Brooklyn. Many people will say that's a terrible place to raise a child.

I was raised in part, in West Harlem late 70's - mind 80's. That was a bad time all around for Ny.

Personally I think I turned out well.

now, it is true that the more crime, ... drugs etc they are around the more likely they are to experiment etc.

However, their homelife determines much more .

We are moving to either PHX arizona or Chicago. Chicago is much easier for me to move to and also only 1.5 hours from where i live now. Im sure we will live in the city verses the burbs.

Best of luck at whatever you decide to do. And kudos to you for thinking of your child first.

Las Vegas is a different sorta city. Big money there with very little schedule. My personal suggestion is to move right outside of Vegas in a nice gated apt community. this way he's growing up in a smaller community and away from big city life. But yet , not too far .

This way you make more money, pay less in housing and your worries are somewhat decreased.

If the move isn't permanent, you should be oaky. If you get out before he starts kindergarden, you can have the chance of making a lot of money while you are dancing.

The down side is that Nevada has no cap on medical malpractice awards for "pain and suffering", so it is hard to get good medical care there. Doctors can't afford the insurance, especially OB-GY's and pediatricians.

I personally would never want to live in Las Vegas, but I have met plenty of people who just love living there, so it really is personal prefernce.

I live here, and I would reccommend that you live either in Henderson if you move to Vegas... it's like 20 minutes from anywhere you'd work, and it's really suburban. I mean, of course there are going to be more fucked up people in Vegas than in a normal city....but that's life. I don't feel unsafe living here or anything like that.

I used to live there and am currently in the proces of moving back (in a matter of days), I know so many folks out there with kids. It's a great place for family. Everone I know lives in Green Valley, Henderson or Summerlin. All great communities. All those places have good schools and nice parks for the kids. Why don't you get out there and take a look around those areas. Vegas, just like any city can have it's pitfalls and bad places for children. I know several people that were raised their as kids, born and bread. They turned out wonderfully. One grew up to be a rock star, who doesn't smoke or drink or do drugs! And was raised in the bad part of town, living in a trailer home in a trailer park. So it's all what you make of it.
Best of luck to you and yours....
