Default Strippers w/ kids, private schools

I went to a somewhat private school about my entire life and I really want my son to go to private schools, I love it and I also think its a lot safer. Anyway, I know that most private schools you have to do a family interview. I was wondering if any of you ladies have kids in private school and how you convinced them to take your child even though you are a dancer. My son is only one, so i have time to prepare. A lot of my money is going into his school savings.

Christelle, here is a cautionary tale for you:

(in summary: a Christian private school in Sacramento, CA, expelled a single mother's kindergartener because the administration found out that the mother was a dancer. The mother had taken the job because her daughter's father had stopped paying his half of the tuition.)

Religious private schools are not really worth it and they will turn your kids against you.

Try to find a secular private school.

If you come across as a (highly paid) entertainment professional, secular private schools will have NO PROBLEM taking your tuition money ! Religious oriented private schools are an entirely different story, so I'd recommend not wasting your time with them.

I just wonder if any SCJ's here helped pay for his tuition?

Seriously, stear clear of christian schools

even if you believe in the christian faith.

    They are all so rigid!

Yeesh, I read the article. That's bullshit. I agree that problems will occur if they discover your gig. I worked in a religious hospital once, where they discovered my other job. Laws prevented them from firing me on the spot purely on those grounds, but they found other excuses and all collaborated to make my life miserable. I quit before anything could really happen, which was good in the long run b/c I'd be losing hundreds of $$ if they had me work a weekend.

Go to a secular private school. Honestly, I wouldn't even tell them what you do for a living. Why not just tell them you are self employed, and leave it like that? No m atter what, YOU are paying THEM to provide a service for your child, you don't have to beg them to do shit. If they harass you for being a stripper, you can sue their ass. Your job is not ILLEGAL

It's pretty messed up that the mother in this article still wanted to find a way to get her daughter back into that school after the way they treated her.

Well, school administrations and the actual teachers who work there don't always have a lot to do with each other. The quality of the teaching might have simply been really good.

Speaking as one who worked in admissions at a secular private school, you will want to keep your profession to yourself. Write yourself down as an independent contractor - print model, internet business owner, etc... Word does get out and in a private school, it's bound to spread like wildfire that little Jimmy/Janie's mom is a stripper. And yes, parents will bitch to school officials (and demonize the admitting official) and while most won't bend, there will be a nice handful of faculty, staff, and other studentsand families that will have no qualms about making your child miserable. Sure, you might be able to sue, but is a settlement worth your child's misery? Nah.

And yes, I've seen something very similar happen.

I wouldn't tell them what you do. Just tell them you're a contractor or something. I grew up going to a private school and while I got a great education the kid were total snobs. Be sure you pick the school carefully. I wish I'd gone to a different school. I'm still traumatized by my experience at that school that my parents paid so much damn money for.

Yeah. seriously, private school kids are some of the biggest jerks. In my years going to private school I had a much worse experience than public school after. And since a lot of the kids came from families with good amounts of money there was a lot of drug abuse going on. It was only junior high but there were kids doing all kinds of drugs, not just weed or anything.

You're lucky there is such a thing as a secular private school. Here in Australia all the private schools are religious. I have never known of a private school that isn't attached to a christian faith of one kind or another. Personally, I went thru mainly Catholic schools.

What about public schools in your area? They aren't all bad are they?

The only problem with the Steiner schools is that there aren't that many... I only know of one on the Gold Coast. One. Compared with all the other religious (usually Christian of one variety or another) private schools. Granted, our public school system isn't that bad or as 'dangerous' as the US public school system (supposedly).

Plenty of successful individuals went to public schools. The interesting thing about these successful people is that most of then didn't go to college and/or dropped out of school early (after Grade 10).
