    Default Out of workout/weightloss ideas

    Hey ladies--

What are your MOST EFFICIENT weightloss strategies, both at home and in the gym? By eficient, I mean the ones that give you the best results for the least investment of minutes. I am open to diet, suppliments, teas, exercse, etc.

    Here is my dilemma:

I am stalled out at about 15 lbs more than I want to weigh. It is all fat and all in the bely area. My work schedule is changing (I am now going to go in at 4 pm 4-5 days a week) and my husband pitches a fit if I try to take weekend time for working out. I am home with my son (age 4 1/2) during the day. Hubby gets home at about 1-2 pm each day, depending on the day, and I leave at 3 to get to work. Weather is starting to suck.

I was dong really long cardio workouts 2-3x a week for a while, but they seemed to quit doing anything for me. I am already very muscular in the arms, legs, and butt, so I don't really want to add to that. I was doing Pilates and yoga at home, but they didn't seem to help either. Now I am not doing anything, b/c everything I can think of seems like such a waste of time. Buying an expensice home aparatus like a tredmill or a bowflex is not an option at the moment.

Currently, I am taking Relacor and will be getting back on Tonalin in a few days. (thought I hit a plateau, so left off it for a while) I also take a good multi/antioxident/probiotic. I saw somewhere on here that green tea is good for weight loss, so I plan to get some of that wehn I go to buy my Tonalin.

I eat only fruit for breakfast, and usually have a big, healthy salad for dinner when I work. (easy to carry and does not have to be heated) I am concerned about protein malnutrition (I had it when I first became a vegetarian, don't want to go ther eagain) so I am careful to make sure I get my portein. I eat plenty of dairy.

I saw somewhere on here that green tea is good for weight loss, so I plan to get some of that wehn I go to buy my Tonalin. I also drink almost a gallon of water daily wehn I can make myself (usually it's more like a half or 3/4 gallon).

Please ladies, I am TOTALLY out of ideas. Can anyone give some suggestions?

Maybe you are doing too much of the same thing all the time. Usually when you do the same routine, your body gets used to it.

Change your workout routine...do a different cardio...tighten up your diet as much as you can.

The best results I get are when I do treadmill one day, elliptical the next, and swimming the third day. My body doesn't get used to anything and it keeps me from "slacking off".

Fat in the belly area could also mean that your circulation isn't up to par or also that you are still eating too many starch/carbs.

You may also want to incorporate a "core" workout. Like one with the 1/2 balance ball.

I agree--half of the weight-loss equation is exercise, but the other half is diet. More lean protein, fewer carbs and fat (though carbs and fat should be equal in proportion).

Tonalin CLA is great, but you need to ramp up to the ideal daily intake (5000mg to 6000mg) gradually. And remember, if CLA affects your digestive comfort, it's not the CLA, it's the food you're eating--CLA is a fat metabolizing agent.

In conjunction with CLA, you should look at taking L-Carnitine amino acids, between 1000mg and 2000mg (again, ramping up over a few weeks at 500mg increments) as L-Carnitine is another excellent fat metabolizer that one normally gets from red meats.

Green tea is also good for metabolizing fat, and you can get it in a pill. GNC Ultra Mega Green vitamins have a lot of green tea as well as 62 other dietary supplements.

I see a visit to GNC in your future; get the Tonalin CLA and L-Carnitine from the Pro Performance section of the store. Take them regularly, and with exercise--make sure you take the L-Carnitine (and any other additional amino acids you're taking) on an empty stomach.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

My thing isn't diet and exercise it is nutrition and activity.

When people say the word 'diet' they usually think of things like "South Beach Diet" "Atkins Diet" and so forth hence the reason why I concentrate on nutrition. I also concentrate on nutrition as I'm a vegetarian (no red meat, once a month chicken, yes seafood and dairy) therefore have special requirements. The other thing is that supermarket fresh fruit and vegies are not the same as going to a famer's market to buy the fruit and vegies.

As for activity over exercise. Exercise to alot of people is a set thing you do. Activity counts everything you do in a day from small things such as mopping, vacuuming, chasing after a child, walking to the shops to larger activites such as sports, pilates, etc. Make sure your ACTIVITY level is high enough. Remember: cleaning the dishes, vacuuming the house and those small 'chores' all count not necessarily the 'exercise' you do.

As for 'exercise'... give yourself some variety. I purposely invested in a whole range of 'exercise' videos so I would never become bored: tai chi, yoga for sports, Windsor Pilates, TaiBoe, Aerobics, ones that target specific regions of my body and so forth.
