Oh god, mine are taken out today so I can color before they are put back tomorrow and my hair looks so thin and awful! But I'm pretty sure it always did before I had them from coloring too much. Can't wait till they are back tomorrow!!

It can get kind of steep. Upwards of $400? But it is extremely worth it; almost an investment. What man [in a SC] doesn't love a woman with long, full, luxurious hair...

No, not at all. You can get wefts sewn in (which is cheaper, and tends to be low quality) or get high quality, silky hair bonded to your own hair with tiny melted plastic beads.
I LOVE hair extensions...the longer/the fuller=the better. I know there is someone on here who offers the service, she should know better than I. This is just from my experience.
Call your local salon, they should be able to help![]()

Be careful of the ones that they glue in. A friend of mine had these and after she got them taken out she had to get more put in becaues she had bald spots all over her head where the extensions pulled them out.

The amout of $$$ you pay is related to the quality of hair, method of application and area you live in. For a bonded (glue in weft) mid-range quality human hair extension in Denver you're looking at starting at $150. For fusion extensions (strand by strand) with the same hair, that price jumps to $700.
It will only hurt your natual hair if it is applied or removed improperly.

Actual hair extensions are very expensive. I use clip-ins I got from an Ebay store (http://stores.ebay.com/Hair-Collecti...3amesstQQtZkm). My hair is very short -- a mohawk, less than ear length -- and these work really darn well! I've had several customers AND dancers compliment me on my hairstyle (I use them on the sides but not in back.)
The downside is that smoke gets caught in them and it's harder to wash them than it is to wash hair on your own head.
Wow I feel like a veteran with extensions. I had all types from glue, silicone, weft, clip ons, falls, and the strand by strand method. Since I was getting them all the time I figured I might as well be the stylist who puts them on. So I went to cosmetology school to get my license to do them. The best ones to me are the strand by strand methods. But I tell my clients and my friends who use them that "Never" leave them in more than 2 months. Its alot of crap when they tell people that it last 6 months. Your hair grows and sheds close to 100 strands a day, so its not good to leave something hanging on a couple of strands. I use also on my clients 100% european hair which is tangle free if you take care of the hair. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask....my e-mail is [email protected] Always a pleasure helping any one.

Not true in my case... They ruined my hair... I had them put in with that glue thats like the same color of your hair with this gun like thing (like a glue gun)... I went for all my maintenance appointments and went and had them professionally removed. But, they ended up pulling out a lot of my hair with them because my hair ended up getting tangled in. I had a few bald patches...Originally Posted by Mia M
From then on I decided only to do wigs and clip on hair...
If you do go for extensions shop around for a good stylist... And be prepared to pay a lot and be willing to go through a lot more extra time to style your hair because they are a lot of maintence to comb through after showering and everything else.

Sorry to hear that Bella, I know the feeling because I used the glue method with a glue gun and it got stuck other bonds. Thats why I do the ones that have keratin bonds(protein) just Like Great Lengths. I also give out pamplets on how to take care of the hair as well. My suggestion I personally would let my hair rest for a good six months. Put lots of treatments and take some vitamins with biotin, it helped me when my hair was really thin. Hope everything works out for you![]()

Oh!! I love Biotin I take like 1200 mcg/day.
Luckily, that hair catastrophe was like 5 years ago. My hair is fine now...
I looked into the great lengths stuff a while back... I almost decided to try it but chickened out... Too afraid after the last episode...

I have hair extensions in at the moment, they've been in for 3-4 months now and unfortunately probably need to come out sometime soon!
Like Bombshell said, mine are European hair with Keratin bonds, and they've been fantastic. If you take care of them properly and you're willing to pay a little bit extra to get them done right and to get good quality, then they should not damage your hair at all.
This is about my 6th or 7th time having extensions in, and I've never had a problem with them damaging my hair. Yeah I've spent a fucking heap of cash, but in my opinion it's 110% worth it, I absolutely LOVE my extensions!
Got my Great Lengths today, damn I'm a balla with these = hot!!!

Yes, in a very high ponytail you can. It also depends on how many you get, and where. My hair is so fucking stringy, I got an entire scalpful. But I can put it halfway up for a few months until they grow too long. Remember, these are GreatLengths, not the Eurolocs, that you could sometimes see the clips easily (remember in NOLA?)Originally Posted by smartcookie

They should be undetectable when you put your hair in a pony tail. I personally always leave 1/2 inch of hair from the hair line so when you put your hair up your hair without the extension shows.
I like this site for info and pics. I know someone who has them and they look hott.
