Default Abercrombie & Fitch face "girlcott" over T-shirts

Oh for God sakes. For a clothing outfitter that introduced thong underwear for kids, this is practically milk and cookies.

They should be protesting the fact that they're charging $24.50 for a damned T-shirt.

Bahaha...just for the plain stupidity of it, I'd like to get the "I had a nightmare that I was a brunette one." People would probably look at me like I was crazy!

How the hell is that offensive or degrading? And a better question is why is A&F getting crap for it? I've seen that phrase on T-Shirts for YEARS.

People piss and moan over anything, I swear.

(I agree Doc.. If anything, they should be bitching about the price.)

"Kristine Campbell, 20, of Lincoln Park won't wear the T-shirts. Although she's not offended by them, she doesn't think much of girls who wear them.

"It tells me that they're shallow and that's all they care about," said Campbell, who was also applying for a job at A&F on Tuesday."

Okay, she thinks the girls are shallow... but she's applying for a job there? I think they're all a bunch of dumbasses, I hate that store. Although I would wear the brunette one... if it was about $20 cheaper...

No such thing as bad publicity...smart marketing crew over there at A&F.

That said, they don't make a single piece of clothing I'd ever wear--everything looks like it came out of a homeless shelter, yet you're paying exorbitant prices.

Its funny that this keeps happening with A&F. Sometime ago it was the nudity or semi-nudity in the cataloge, the racial shirts (the asian related ones remember), and now this.

I swear they must sit back there and think how they can piss ppl off. Didnt piss me off though..it thought it was cute. I would want a cool shirt for brunettes though.

I can't even find the shirt on their website. People need to relax and let things go more often. These young ladies should be fighting for more important issues--like our reproductive rights. Jenna

That's the left for ya. No sense of freedom of speech if they don't like it - even if it is on a T-Shirt.

I even heard last night on the news how the girls were saying "It's Racist!" I got a good giggle out of that.

Those poor kids are going to be so bewildered by reality when it comes around.

They spend so much time protesting this, while they wear midriff baring shirts and hip huggers and say that women are being viewed as "sexual pawns" if they wear a shirt that says, "Who needs brains with these?"

I'll bet they sleep in their "Boys are stupid" jammies.

Agreed. One of my fundamental truths regarding women seems most appropo here:

The only thing women hate more than being a sexual object is not being a sexual object.

People need to get a sense of humor. I have a t-shirt that says "smoke crack and worship satan." But damn it's not like I do it...it's a fucking joke people! damn! And I like the one that says "available for parties."

I love A&F. Their jeans fit me like a dream. And I'd wear all of those tee-shirts, they're funny.

I hate people who protest totally meanlingless shit. How about they devote their energy to feeding the hungry or something? Assholes.

The only tee shirt I have ever seen that offended me was one I saw for sale in a tattoo parlor that said, "Your girlfriend is a cum dump." I picked it up and chucked it accross the store, then walked out. I'm not very mature.

Because of the Asian sterotypical T-shirts they had some time ago,I will never shop there.

ITA. No bloody way is it coincidence that they keep inviting "controversy". All the girls are doing is giving them free advertising.
Could care less about their thrift store quality tees- never really got the appeal of A &F.

Uh, without having seen them, I guess it's safe to say these girls are leaders of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee

"Look Ma, IBTC's complaining on the Today show again!"

Stoopid lil twats are doing precisely what A&F hoped they'd do. I hope whoever's doing the marketing for that company is getting paid out the ass. heh

LOL. I am outspoken, but I do have a pretty good sense of humor, and Dick Juice Repository beats cum dump any day of the week.

My suggestion- buy American Apparel clothing instead. The owner Dov is a Hugh Hefner aspirant, he uses his employees as models, and the quality of the clothing is great for the price (he started out selling bulk orders for promotional tee shirts.) Anyway, I'd rather do business with that kind of company than someone with the gall to charge me $25 for a tee.

Not only was there the Asian t-shirt thing, there was some broo-ha about not hiring non-whites at their stores too. I find the place a little stuck up. I suppose the t-shirts are so expensive so that you can show off your money (everyone knows it costs money to shop there) and still look "low key."

I rarely shop at A&F-I don't like their clothes that much and they're way overpriced. That store also reminds me of the preppy snobs I used to go to high school with. Like someone said before, the real crime is that they're charging so much for a damn t-shirt. LOL

However, I don't see what's so offensive about those t-shirts. Some people are just too uptight and have too much time on their hands.

Damn, I couldn't agree with you more. To add my own say, why don't they take offense with such T-shirts as "I'm with stupid or Porn Star" ?

It's BS, and those shirts don't even COMPARE to the ones on the guys side that say "Muck Fuddy", "Need good head", "Bitches Love Me", "You Blow, I'll Pop", or "Eatin' Ain't Cheatin". They're meant to be funny, sarcastic, and on the edge, that's what AF is about. I love their stuff and won't stop shopping there.
