Default Another Reason Not To Live in Trailer Parks

Sad day in the Evansville, IN area. I feel sorry for people for whom a mobile home is the only means of having a roof over their heads. Sad for those poor horses at that racetrack too.

Kind of ironic this happened this morning and CBS is showing the first half of that movie "Category 7: The End of The World" tonight.
    Former SCJ now in rehab.

Agreed ... I know a few people from this area, who were fortunately unaffected. According to the media, the area only got like 3 minutes worth of advance warning, and in the dead of night.

Now I'm wondering where those $2,000 FEMA handouts are, as those people surely need them ! Probably they'll wind up waiting forever, like Florida hurricane victims have been.

I hope that's not a Biblical reference LOL. Granted that lately the CNN factor certainly creates the impression that a new large scale natural disaster is now occurring on a monthly basis. Not to minimize the severity of any of this year's disasters, or the hardships endured by the victims, but for a fact these things have been happening on a regular basis for hundreds of years. Statistically speaking, while this has been a very heavy year for hurricanes, it has been a somewhat light year for tornadoes.

In point of fact, the human 'toll' of today's natural disasters has been greatly reduced versus similar natural disasters occurring 50-100-150 years ago ... mostly due to early warning technology and better organized relief efforts. The only other thing which has really changed in a major way today is CNN showing the same family being choppered off a New Orleans roof 200 times, and tsunami footage being shown from the other side of the world.

^^ I agree....disasters have always been happening, but the media goes more insane with the coverage now, making it appear that there is more than ever before.

On another note.....another reason not to live in a trailer park....you'll eventually end up on COPS in your underwear

Oh, god, this isn't too far from where we are, but isn't that where Kitana is? Kitana, are you OK?

Yeah Susan I'm ok, but it's not too pretty right now around here. You were right, I work in Evansville, and live in Kentucky across the river about 20 miles.

I was actually at work last Sat night when it hit. Mind you work is only about 5 mins from Ellis Park (the horse track).

The death toll so far is 24 human lives lost, 3 horses lost and around 50 horses unaccounted for so far.

The tornado cut a 41 mile path from Ellis park in Kentucky right on the river, to Newburgh, IN.

Ellis Park was the 1st thing it hit when it touched down, then it moved west.

There have been 19 people that were in the trailor park that died, 2 in the park, and 3 more in homes in Newburgh.

It hit around 2 am, and people had about an average of 5 to 11 mins after the sirens went off to get to shelter.

The park that it hit is right off the interstate (bypass), and it's kinda in a valley. I know a couple of people that live there, but they were all ok.

It ended up being an F-3, and actually this area got really lucky.

If it would have hit on the other side of the river (it's confusing if you don't live here, but KY has some property on the IN side in places) it would have been much worse, I mean like 100+ dead worse. Or if it would have hit 5 miles north of where it did like 200+ dead worse, and I might have been actually in it then as well.

But the majority of it was going through fields and summer river camps, and except for the horse track, and the trailor park, and the few otther homes hit it was fields.

All I can say is we got really lucky. I know to the people who lost their homes, and or family members, it doesn't seem that way, but really we did.

Actually, on the way home from work that night, I was listening to the live feed from the local news stations on the radio, and FEMA was already contacted and a few of the FEMA people were already there to help.

Mind you I didn't leave the bar till nearly 5am though. LOL don't ask, we all just sat around in silence damn near, and drank beer.

Sorry to break the news, but you're right. It isn't, never has and never will end. Volcanoes, tidal waves, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, massive fires, ice storms, blizzards, droughts, pestilence, pandemics, asteroid impacts. Didn't we think all our big problems were accidents, crimes, sickness? Who woulda thought those 'other' things are still out there?

But we get faster and more complete news coverage now because of recent events making it seem mor 'newsworthy.' And we are attuned to it personally.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
