I'm getting highlights, but I don't want my hair to glow green in the blacklights like some of the girls with blonde hair or highlights...
Is it the ashy blonde color that glows like that? If I get golden blonde should I be cool?

Glow green in what type of lighting?

Sorry--i think it's the blacklights that cause that effect...
I have golden blonde and I don't get green hair in UV light. The teeth, yeah, but the hair is fine.

All I know is that any hair dye that is "Ash", can turn your hair looking green if done wrong....at home dye that is.

I don't know if it's ashy or golden but I have definately seen processed blonde hair take on a greenish hue in the black light. Maybe it's only if you go super platinum?

It's gotta be the ash colors which I think have a green base. The golden ones should have a red base and therefore should be fine.
Maybe one of our resident cosmetologists can further clarify.

I have platinium hair and it does glow in the dark, those black lights catch white so if you don't go super pale you shouldn't have that happen.

I never recommended ashy tones for anyone. I don't think they flatter any skintone personally. You have to consider what your natural hair color is and how light you are going to go with the highlights. If your hair in very dark you have to go light enough that your highlights aren't brassy looking. That looks bad in any light.
Stick with natural (not ash) or golden/ivory blonde tones and you should be ok. Also go to salon....at home highlights can be horrid. I did so many color corrections for people who thought they could do it themselves.

I think girls with platinum blond hair look hot on stage, it really makes them stand out. Guys are attracted to blondes for some reason and that really helps

Ash and extremely light blondes can get a bit more green. I agree- stick with golden undertones.
Some ash tones can be very flattering if your have a lot of red undertones in your skin. Let your colorist know the situation, i.e. i don't want my highlights to look green under florescent/blacklights. A proficient colorist will be able to know and work with you.
I would go with a neutral color. Tell your colorist that you would prefer a little warmth (golden) in the blonde. This will cut down on the reaction. I wear my hair really really light with platinum highlights and unless my head is less that a few feet from the blacklights, I never glow.
Colorists con't exactly see what the hair looks like in the blacklights but fortunately!!!! I am both a stylist and a nudie dancer so I can totally understand what you are talknig about.
I think the best way to combat this is to stay away from platinum, all-over color and try to break it up with some golden streaks. The more warmth (red/gold) the less you will glow like a light bulb!
Good luck.

^^ If a colorist works for photo shoots and is familiar with lighting, she will know what you're talking about. Unfortunately, lighting and adjusting color to lighting isn't taught in cosmetology schools...
