    Default Best Anti-Aging Products

I'm 25 now and am starting to notice some difference in my skin. I've always had pretty good skin, but now all of a sudden, I can see pores and lines and all sorts of scary stuff. I'd like to invest in some good anti-aging skin-care products but I don't know where to start!

Any particular brand you are loyal to as a whole? Specific products that work great? Although they aren't on the poll, I'm also interested in some of the lesser-known brands. Those usually make me weary b/c they are (usually) expensive and I never know anyone that can back the stuff up.

Whether you've just started using something, or you've been using something for years, please let me know the best products or brand out there!

Edit: It didn't let me post the poll. I had Estee Lauder, Lancome, Dr Brandt, Mary Kay, Avon....etc.

Hi, I'm on day 11 of the Obagi Nuderm system.

I'll post a review after I complete the first 6 weeks.

lots of water and dark green leafys...veggies that is. ever since i changed my diet (went veggie) people say that i look ten years or more younger than i really am...

i also use aubrey organics and zia cosmetics on my face and body.

why do some people still have to fight to get the same opportunities that are given to others?

    reclusiveness...is a good thing.

Avon Anew products. It's good to be in a skin regime by the time your 25. I love their stuff, been using it for years, I'm 35 now.....and have no wrinkles by my eyes (crows feet) or on my forehead. I have one wrinkle, a laugh line. I notice it more than anyone else does. If you take care of your skin, drink plenty of water, avoid tanning, especially on your face,(self tanner is ok) and don't smoke you can look great as you age. My mom is 55....looks in her late 30's and she does all the things I listed.
I use the Anew Ultra Cream Cleanser, Clinical Micro-Exfoliant,Clinical Deep Crease Concentrate, Perfect Eye Care Cream, Force Extra Day and Night Creams (both in winter time), and the Neo Retinol Line Plumper to target that laugh line.
They have formulas for age 25+, 35+ and mature skin. It's been working for me.

I like the Nichole Miller line form Melaleuca, Inc. I am sure their skin care has reversed my acne scarring and N-L lines dramatically. It is a bit of a pain to get it, but well worth the effort.

Oh, and since nobody has said it:

    "Wear Sunscreen."

Quite honestly I've read that's a primary factor of difference between looking 30 when you're 40 and looking 50 when you're 40, along with smoking and genetics.

^^ You beat me to it.

Seriously, that's the most important thing you can do. You can pay $$$ on skin care and it's wasted if you use a tanning booth or don't wear sunscreen.

Proper hydration and diet are the next important things. Get 5-10 servings of veggies and fruits a day.

Moderate your drinking and don't smoke.

    Take your vitamins and minerals.

Use gentle skin care. Use skin care that does not use toxic chemicals. $$$ does not mean better. Learn to read labels with your skin care as with your food.

Unfortunately, we all "smoke" if we work in a smoke-filled strip club.

Depends on how many hours and how smoke-filled. Sure, it gets into hair and clothes, it increases your cancer risk some, but when I get home and take a shower I don't still smell like smoke -- which means I'm not getting smokers' doses of it -- when you actually smoke, you sweat it out through your skin.

If your club is smoky, take some extra vitamin C. smoke robs the body of Vitamin C.

I'm glad this thread is here. I use Almay Kinetin right now, but looking to get into a "stronger" anit-aging prod. Have heard great things about Avon & Kiehls prods. I look @ magazines, for product reviews. skinstore.com, facetc.com have a lot of skin prods.

Water, sunblock & sunscreen, good multivitamin with C, Bs, and E, green tea, and cocoa butter. I like the Avon ANEW products as well. Oil of Olay's Age-Defying night cream is a fave.

I prefer to use good, gentle hydrating products to keep the skin balanced. The problem with a lot of cosmetics out there is that the ingredients are often harsh and irritating to skin (although you may not feel it)- and as a result, any beneficial ingredients are cancelled out. OR, they use cheap carriers that tend to suffocate skin (petroleum, paraffin, mineral oil being big ones) and your skin doesn't benefit, either. Petroleum and mineral oil are OK in things like lipstick and lip balm but not for your skin overall.

I would not do this if you tan, because you're going to end up with MORE skin damage, not less.

If you do tan, drink green tea, take vitamins (C, E, A, selenium, etc) , and BE SURE to get your skin screened for skin cancer every 6 months. I would also invest in a good Vitamin C serum. The key is protetion and supporting your skin so that it can withstand the tanning with minimal damage.

However, if you do not tan (fake tan is fine), consider:
getting chemical peels / microdermabrasions on a somewhat regular basis. Many actresses get them on a regular basis. My friend's mom is an esthetician for Sonya Drakar in LA, which gets all the celeb clients. She does not know of a single actress/singer/model that does not get them as a rountine part of her maintenance. However, if you do tan rountinely, this can't be done because it will actually increase aging, wrinkles and skin damage. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion removes the top layer of your skin, so that new skin grows back (and increses collagen production in skin, which increases firmness). However, if you tan when your new skin is growing, it's MORE suceptible to damage. Also, your deeper skin layers are more exposed, so you end up damaging deeper skin layers that would have been otherwise protected had you not done the peel.

As with anything, do not overdo.

Same goes for Retin-A. Get a prescription from a dermatologist and get it filled in Canada online. Again, not for those that tan as you will burn like crazy.

Living in Florida, i have had my days of much sun! Now at my age i work at un-doing the damage. Oh and i have damage!!!

I started with Retin A for years, does very well, after about 2 months you notice a difference. My insurance does not cover it, and i seemed to hit an area with this stuff that only took me so far.

So..today i use over the counter products!!!! All different kinds for anti-aging! I mix and match daily. I have never irritated my skin.

My skin sems to do very well with ice cold milk pats! Then an ice cube after!

I use Avons A New products, Alpha hydroxy, and much sun screen!

I stay out of the sun.

To this day..if i stop using products on my face, i will get those light sun spots, and more freckles.

I NEED to keep this up as a life time treatment now!

I have NO wrinkles, but know they will come to us all if we live long enough!

I guess i am just a junkie for skin care, natural or chemical..i use it daily!

Not at a doctors office, but at home. Works for me. My face skin looks good to me!

You know...I hardly ever use a deep cleanser on my face. Only when I wear make-up (which is, like, never) will I actually use make-up remover for my face. Otherwise, I read somewhere that you should not (if you do not have "problem skin") was your face very often. I use Apricot scrub (the gentle formula) a couple times a week, just before bed. Other than that, I just splash water on my face and each morning (when my face is the most oily) I just take a cotton pad and smooth the oil all over my face. Of course, my facial skin tends to be a bit more dry. But, I have no wrinkles, no smile lines, no real skin damage...and this works better for me than my "traditional" method of scrubbing my face clean day and night.

I also drink a lot of water and take Tonalin CLA. They've improved my skin texture/tone immensely!

Hey, thanks, Venus, I was feeling guilty about not washing my face so much.
I also have been seeing patriciawexlermd.com products, anti-aging that are supposed to be good.

Obagi Blue Peel (which uses TCA acid) is good, but it's not recommended if you have frequent oral herpes outbreaks, as it can cause permanent scarring if you have an outbreak during the procedure.

Again, no tannig for both Retin-A and Obagi blue peel.

I stick to the basics: I always use sunscreen specifically the Ocean Potion brand which has Parsol in it... that you can find at WalMart for about $3.97 to about $4.97. I have no wrinkles and I live in Florida. That and a moisturizer that has alpha hydroxy made by Neutrogena. That costs about $13. Sun damage is a cause of wrinkles so sunscreen is extremely important.

I was using Lancome The Early Signs of Aging moisturizing cream. Unfornuately, I started to break out a bit. I like their eye cream though and I am going to start using it again soon. I now use Proactiv because for some reason my chin/lips area breaks out really badly. I don't know if it's from my dogs giving me kisses or that's just an acne prone area for me. The Proactiv keeps this under control quite a bit but I am worried about my skin drying out. I think Proactiv has a moisturzer too, has any tried it at all?
