Looks more like a water spot than dust... but its possible that it is something spectral.

yep, you're crazy! Turn yourself in!

Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

As an amateur photographer for many years, I can tell you quite factually it's just lens flare. It's caused by refraction of light coming across the side or corner of the lens of the camera. In many cases, photographers actually compose their shots to achieve this effect (usually more pronounced though) intentionally. You usually see this effect done with sunsets and such. In your case, it was acccidental based on the angle of your camera and the light source etc.

I get those sometimes - if you check on various ghost watch sites you'll see they're fairly common and nothing to get excited about (unfortunatly). There are orbs, and then there are orbs (-:

k, well first of all it can't be water or dust. my camera is a really nice one and kept very clean. The first thing i had done was check to see if it was dust. if it was nothing...great! But i just thought it was strange and wanted to share it.

I've got a couple of pictures like that as well. Same situation as you, very clean lens, and all that. It's very likely that it's just the lens flare. Has anything strange and absolutely unexplainable been happening?

Those orbs I believe are our guardians... call ME crazy, but that's what I believe. The hour before I got raped by my friend, my roomate took a ton of pics of me and there were about 4 or 5 little orbs around my body. Coincidence? I doubt it, but then again I believe in the strange. So I wouldn't be worried, they are good.

COuld be orbs. Could be lens flares. Could be a spot on your lens. I took some photos in my basement that I swore were orbs. But it turned out to be spots in the lens.

Anyway, here are some orbs that will creep you out:

ok, i'll admit it -- i'm a LOON; i researched this for HOURS online...

    got that "curiousity" thing

(check out the photos I uploaded; some dude tossed dust in the air, & snapped it, to prove the effect of dust particles isn't a perfect cirlce. his was pentagonal, the same shape as the lens he used. the party snap has unexplained prefectly round circles.)

    ******
i've gotten plenty of lens flares in my life, but they've never been perfect circles

-- at any rate, alot of people have had this "mystery circle" on their photos. a cam lens aperture isn't a perfect circle. It's layers of metal blades, usually similar to an octagon. so: MYSTERY, WHY CIRCLES?

    CHECK OUT:

    ***
from online (these are other people writing now, not me):

Flare will take the shape of the aperture; for example, if the lens has a 6-bladed aperture, there will be hexagonal shapes in the lens flare.

** There are some instances when the diaphragm has more than the usual number (5-7) of blades therefore creating almost a circle **

All of these pictures here are done with flash. I strongly believe in dust particles around the lens (AND NOT ON THE LENS) and the flash illuminating them briefly. As you say, they were both digital and film cameras, but *** they were the 'compact' type, most of these have round apertures cuz that's alot CHEAPER TO MAKE. *** And your observation of 'common characters' proves that the dust floating near the lens is shown the same way over and over, no matter what camera (digital or film) one uses.

Went into the garage, next to my table saw and grabbed a hand of dust, threw it in the air and took a picture. It turns out that:
my wife's Olympus does have a 5 blade shutter, as you can see in the picture (they're not perfectly circular but rather pentagonal in appearance)
