Exclamation Aussie Dancers, check this out!!!

Has anyone seen this? This could be devastating to us, if this becomes law we're all out of work. No one would be able to afford our services and no club could afford to accomodate this kind of nonsense.
I do know one of the organisers of this 'union', but as i'm out of the country i've been out of touch

I won't happen. I will go down fighting to stay as a self employed individual (too many perks and I totally LOVE being my own boss) before I become an employee of anyone!!

Stages are to be disinfected daily and performers are not to use oils or non-water-soluble products on stage.
Ahh... the first bit is generally done at the 'higher end' clubs anyway (or at least the dancers themselves).... and the second half is generally in the rules for alot of clubs. It's common-sense to not use oils or non-water-soluable products on stage yet there is always those few dancers who wreck it for the rest of us.

Maxine Fensom, whose adult empire includes a gentleman's restaurant and a strippers' agency, charges patrons $150 in Victoria and $220 in NSW for a 12-minute full nude strip.

Out of that, she pays the performer $100 and $180 respectively and they get to pick and choose their hours. "It would be fantastic, but guys have trouble affording it now, as it is,'' she said.
For a full nude strip by me via one of my agencies costs $175 or $180. It's a 20 minute show. This lady is speaking about shows: a themed outfit, music and props. There are guys paying this much (more if you start to go into the XXX stuff).

I get usually half of the booking charge/fee from one agency however the other agency gives me a better cut. As for work, there is plenty of work for those who are reliable... granted, there are slow months however the reliable ones always get the work

Strippers' union Striptease Artists Australia Incorporated has demanded $110 for a three-minute "skimpy'' striptease -- where nipples and genitalia remain concealed -- while an artist performing a full striptease for a buck's or hen's night would earn $2010 for 20 minutes' work.
Are they f--king kidding me??!! These are NOT competative rates and what the market-place can bear.... the person who came up with this ludicrious (sp?) rates obviously has no idea. *sigh*

The guys WILL be wanting the stripper to be MORE than a stripper for that price! Not even half way decent near the high end escorts charge that much for 20 minutes!!!

Stephanie Richards, a topless waitress working at Ms Fensom's Richmond restaurant Maxine's, said she would average about $750 a week for about 20 hours' work.
This does not include tips..... which can be quite alot! Topless waitresses who are reliable and have a car (and generally work for a couple of agencies as well as themselves) can nearly earn the same as a dancer. Nearly.

I'd be quite happy with that for those many hours. Alot of people earn $750 after working 40+ hours a week!

"A code of conduct and some sort of recognition is the way to go,'' she said.
Ah.. finally some sense!! I am in agreement with the above so that everyone is on an even footing and that clubs can't be so 'abusive' of us.

    ALL IN A DAY'S WORK

    * Striptease rates range from $110 for a three-minute "skimpy" striptease (not exposing nipples, buttocks or genitalia) to $660 for a 15-minute explicit striptease.

    * Rates for a double striptease with sex act are $2060 per performer for 20 minutes ($5010 casual rates).

    * Tabletop and podium dance rates range from $310 for a three-minute "skimpy" performance to $5100 for a 15-minute explicit performance.

    * Topless waitresses to receive $510 an hour full time ($1100 an hour casual rate).

    * Lapdance performers to be paid $1300 for a 15-minute "skimpy" lapdance, to $2100 for a 15-minute lapdance with full nudity.

    * All stages to measure no less than 4sq m. Tabletops, podiums and stages for private dancing to be no smaller than 2.5sq m. All stages to be no lower than 50cm from the floor and no less than 2.5m from the ceiling.

    * Stage floors to be covered in a safe non-slip surface (not carpet).

    * Performers not to use oils or non-water-soluble oils on stage.

    * Dressing room adjacent to stage to be no smaller than 2sq m per performer and fitted with a full-length mirror, one locker per performer, drinking water, appropriate ventilation, air conditioning, an electric fan and wash basin.

    * Sixty per cent penalty rate on top of normal hourly rates for public holidays Strippers' union demands.
It won't happen. These rates are too 'off the wall'.... besides someone has not done adequate market research in coming up with these figures as the 'market place' would never be able to 'bear' these rates. I'm not too freaked out about it as I realise the silly-ness of the demands...

Total crap, yeah seen it before - also find it impossible to track down the Aussie Strippers Union although I have tried a few times over the last couple of years. It seems to me that they have their heads up their arses when it comes to reality vs pricing.
I am not generally opposed to Unions, but I am opposed to ridiculous ideas! Unfortunatly alot of good people who really have no idea about the industry will think strippers unionising to be a good thing. (I have discussed this elsewhere...) I hope that the idea doesn't catch on though!
