    Default Non Surgical Eye Lift

I've been so tired of the occasional dark circles or puffy eyes. I'm not trying the Preparation-H since that recent thread hearing everyones results. I use a eye cream with vitamin K, which is supposed to help the dark circles. But I'm not completely thrilled with it. Being of Polish decent I know that under eye dark circles can be common with eastern european women. My mom and one grandma have the problem too.
Eventually I want to do something about it. And I would prefer to avoid surgery. Has anyone tried or known anyone who has had this procedure done.

    By Dr. Jay Adlersberg

(New York-WABC, Nov. 11, 2005) - Do your eyes make you look tired? There's a way to get rid of those dark circles without surgery.

There's no surgery, but a very big needle. Seven's On Call with Dr. Jay Adlersberg.

Cosmetic fillers are gaining in popularity -- most of them are used in the lips and in the laugh lines that go from the nose to the mouth. Now, an expansion of their use to under the eyes.

Our eyes are a mirror to well, our age and many of us want to look younger.

Recently, plastic surgeons have begun using a new filler that eliminates the appearance of sunken eyes. They need no incisions, no sutures and no dressings.

An injection is the alternative, the choice for 28-year-old Emily Ross.

First, doctors apply a topical numbing cream. Then, Emily's nonsurgical eye lift begins. The plastic surgeon pokes and pricks underneath Emily's eyes.

Inside the needle is hyaluronic acid. A carbohydrate component that's found almost everywhere in the body.

When doctors do a standard eye lift, they cut into the eyelid and remove fat. That makes the bag smaller. In this nonsurgical injection, the goal is to camouflage the bags by filling in the depression under the eye.

Dr. Mike Nayak, Facial Plastic Surgeon: "You would think that we would've understood this long ago. You know, hey, fill the valley, the mountain doesn't look so tall."

But the affects are temporary. The filler can lasts anywhere from three to six months. The cost? Approximately $500 per syringe and more than one might be needed.

But it is a brief procedure that takes only 20 minutes to get done.

Emily Ross: "Oh, I think it looks good. I can see where its filled in on both sides."

Within the hour, Emily is back at work.

The side effects known so far are minor: some bruising and swelling that disappears quickly.

There are several fillers on the market and more on the FDA pipeline waiting for approval. The hyaluronic acid fillers don't cause allergies but others may so people should discuss them carefully with their doctor.

And one should also make sure, the person administering any facial injection is a well trained certified doctor. (Copyright 2005 WABC-TV)

Fillers can somewhat reduce sunken eyes, but often will not do anything for dark undereye circles.

That's an inherited trat and there's not a whole lot you can do.

The side effect in some people with HA fillers is that they can leave a long lasting discoloration.

Rare, but some women have had discoloration that has not gone away after a year.

Another option in Sculptra. Google it and you can get lots of info.

Personally, HA lasts maybe 6 months tops. I would go for a standard upper or lower bleph because it's longer lasting and you'll save more money in the long run. I've seen ppl do HA fillers but it's usually best combined with a bleph.

I have had restalynne several times in my laugh lines but would not put it around the eye. Its not recomended for that area. Also the last time I had the restalyne done I wasnt pleased with the way this particular doctor did it and I think I look worse and if that happens and you dont like it, it takes many months to go away. I am currently looking for somethin to help my eye area as well and I went for consults for bleph and noone wanted to do it on me. I wonder if you could laser the eye area to tighten and lighten it. I know years ago when I did phto facials this helped but now I dont think it would be enough. Does anyone know if you can laser upper and lower eye area?

I just had upper bleph surgery because I had puffyness in the upper eyelids that made me look like I was tired or had an additude. Im happy I did it. I look soo much better. And the reaction at work is positive. Ive heard of Drs injecting fat instead of Restalyne to under the eyes to fill the sunken area and make circles less noticable but never seen before and after photos to see the actual results.

Fat injection is more expensive because it's a three part process of removing the fat and then processing it for injection, then the injection process. It's often double the cost of other fillers. OTOH, it's your own product so you don't have to worry about bad reactions of any kind.
