Are the any female managers of any major clubs? If you were to run your spot, how would you do it differently? Do you think that female management could make a difference in the industry?

My manager is a girl. She also used to dance at our club. I used to work with her as a dancer. The other two clubs that the owner owns are ex-dancers. I think they do a GREAT job. Our manager is the best.
I think that ex-dancers run clubs better than anyone because they have been there-done that. they know what it's like to work under different types of management, and they know what rules there should be and what rules are just rediculous.
while i agree a former dancer could be better. i personally hate female managers. you know the whole women getting power over other women and it goes to thier heads.
give me a sleazeball man over a bitchy women anyday...lol

I asked directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam and she lied to me.

Been there...seen that. Exactly why I accepted when I was offered the Gen Mgr postion. But I think I went to the other extreme...being TOO soft towards the girls. I got taken advantage of plenty because I had been there too.Originally Posted by velvet
My door was always open if the girls needed to vent. I have made dr's appointments, offered a shoulder and a cup of tea, listened to family and boyfriend problems etc...and loved it. But it got to be too much when they didn't do their jobs. I HATED having to pull rank because I knew exactly what they were going through and deep down, I still considered myself one of them.
So I quit and went back to where I belonged...with my girls.
I worked with a female manager who worked her way up from waitress. She was byfar the best ever! She was firm, fair and would hepl us girls make money.

If I may step in and give my two cents, I have worked with female managers, and loved them. However...(you knew that was coming, right?). As "support staff", as it were, too often these women are far TOO easy on the girls. You can't continually let things slide, as I have seen most female managers do. If they do let things slide, oh man, how the girls talk them up like the best thing ever. And if they stop thinking it's okay to call out 5 minutes before your shift starts because you want to go tanning and out for drinks...and then stop in the club WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING, but hanging with all your friends instead.... OMG, suddenly, they're a "cunt", and they "hate the girls", etc etc ad nauseum. I honestly don't think it has much to do with gender at all. You either know how to run a club professionally, or you don't. End of story.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

I've worked with female managers before, and personally would prefer a male manager.Females are still females and they often get catty.
I have thought about being the dance manager for my club and if all works out, I will be shortly. This is to help the girls new girls that have never danced prefer being talked to by me over the owner. I would still dance though. Most of the girls look to me as the head dancer anyway, I usually talk to all of them before they start and give them the rules and how things work. Most of our girls start out as waitresses and have never danced, so they dont know much about the business.
There's a female manager at one of my 2 clubs. I've only worked with her a few times because its usually just more convenient for me to work the nights the other manager is there. She seems ok though, but lets to many girls go home early. Also one night she got very drunk and did her own stage set in jeans and a sweater. The guys seemed to like it though and it left me with no question as to whether she was a former dancer.

Truthfully ... if I were actually allowed to manage a club with 'potential'
#1 I would increase the stage fee and/or private dance percentage charged of the dancers
#2 I would take this money and "invest" in the club's future via well placed local political contributions, well placed donations to the local police 'widows and orphans' fund etc.
