    Waxing at home

    Woohoo!
I just bought a proper wax heater and some hot wax so i can do my brazillian at home.
It's great, i wish i'd done this sooner!

LOL, nope except get a good towel to bite into so the neighbors don't call the cops and report a murder!

If I do a wax, I get the sugar wax (the no heat stuff), it's easier to get clean and I don't have to worry about getting 3rd degree bruns on my hoo-ha.

    But anyway, good luck!!!

Learn the growth patterns of your muff, b/c things get difficult around the lips. You may need another set of hands to help keep the skin taut in those areas. Get a stand-up handmirror so you can look at yourself from different angles. Be prepared to get flexible. Oh, go to your local Sally's Beauty Supply and get some analgesic bikini cream. You're going to be extremely red and irritated, and this stuff is great. Oh yeah, don't accidentally glue your butt cheeks together!

I swear by the One Touch brand. I use the roll-on formula with the heater for the mons and between my thighs, and I use the peel-apart strips for around the anal area and lips. One Touch uses resin and waxes instead of sugar formulas, which make it extra sticky and doesn't break down if you overheat it, but still washes off with good soap. The roll-on applicator makes things really easy.

^The roll-on formulas are the best for beginners. The best advice I can give you is to learn the growth patterns.

OMG I envy any girl who can wax at home... I did it, I cried, I bled and maybe even screamed. I went to the salon/spa to get it done.. same result. I now shave and I found a way to do it without getting bumps(I put a thread up awhile ago for it) it works great for me heh... good luck!

Ok here's what you need to do. (This is not easy) You should do this in an area with mostly hard surfaces (bathroom, kitchen) b/c it is torture to get the wax out of carpet and fabric.

So... clean the area with a cleanser NOT ALCOHOL. The alcohol will remove all the oils from your skin and cause the wax to bond to the skin and you are trying to get rid of hair, not your skin.

Apply the wax IN THE DIRECTION of the hair growth. Work in small sections until you get the hang of it. Put the muslin strip on the wax and gently rub in the direction of the growth.

Hold the skin around the area as taught as you can and get a firm grip on the muslin and pull (don't yank) in the opposite direction of the growth. **** FYI**** Don't pull UP on the strip, pull back. If you pull up it can cause bruising and is very painful. It's better to just remember to try and keep the strip parrallel with your skin when you are removing it.

Continue this until all the area is free of hair. Follow with a wax remover (oil or some kind) and use a soothing cream to finish.

Remember to cut the muslin sheet into smaller strips so they are easier to work with.

If you get stuck (haha, no PUN intended) PM me.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for all the tips!

I did it.. well, most of it. lol
I'm using a hard wax that doesn't involve cloth strips. You apply it to a small patch of hair, then when it cools the wax kinda grips the hair and it can be pulled right off.

I got all of the front and some of the lips done, now i just have to go back and get the rest (the really delicate bits).
I'm surprised at how easy it was - it actually seemed to hurt less than having it done at the salon! Maybe that's because i was doing a small bit at a time (about 4cm) Took me an hour though, when the salon only takes about 10 mins. heh heh.

Usually when i have it done by a beautician, the front part is the most painful - this time it was ok.
Now i just have to convince my husband to let me wax him, so he can understadn what it feels like!

I found this product called surgi-wax for private parts at a drug store for like $5 and it actually works really well. You heat it up in the microwave, it has a green color and doesnt smell very well, but if you can handle it then its ok. You put some oil on the area so the wax sticks to the hair, not the skin, apply it with the wooden stick, and wait until it hardens, no strips required. It does a great job with pulling just the hairs out and not damaging your skin at all, but it does hurt like hell. I take a tylenol one hour before I wax, the helps a bit. If you dont mind the pain and dont want to spend a lot of money, try surgi-wax

Hehe, not only did I force my bf to watch as I gave myself a brazilian, but I also forced him to let me wax off a small patch. He's such a wuss. However, he fully appreciates what I do and doesn't complain if I let a little regrowth occur.

I'm a loooooooong time waxer ...... and I just can NOT do it to myself. I just don't know what it is ... I just prefer someone else to do it for me. I have tried again and again to wax myself (it would save me having to go back to the beautician for a 'bits' wax).... no go.

I wax myself all the time. Even my brows. I wax my bf's back when he needs it and I personally think it hurts a LOT less to do it yorself.

for me its like tickling, when someone else tickles me, I laugh, but when I try to do it I dont feel anything. Of course waxing at home still hurts pretty bad but I just dont trust anyone doing it for me in such a sensitive area
