These girls were trying to help you by telling you what they told you. This might not "be your career" but if you treat this job like a joke, you're not going to make any money either. I reccomend that you go to a dancer store and buy one nice outfit. I'm srre you will make the money back that you spend on it.

Oh, I understand everything now (I started reading the post and the responses and I'm just sitting here like what?!?)

You're a girl (cuz you said so), but your profile says you're male (I'm sure that was a mistake).

Ok, I'm a 19 year old female also paying for college and INSANE NYC rent too (mommy does give me some help though) so I understand what you mean by it not being your career and all. Unfortunately, you will have to treat dancing like it is a career until you end up elsewhere in your life. I've just realized (after doing this for 8 months) that I just have to spend the money on stuff. Try ebay for starters. Invest in two great outfits from a dance store, and then TAKE CARE OF YOUR STUFF. I once read on another thread up here: "dancing is an ivestment" and it's totally true. To even get started, I shelled out close to $500. Even now, I had to give my car back to my mom (long story) so now I have to buy a new car of my own. If I weren't dancing, I could avoid getting a new one but I don't like taking the subway at 4am. If you invest in it, you'll make the money back sooner (better outfits mean more money).

Honestly, wear what you feel comfortable wearing. Other dancers are always telling me to wear sluttier outfits. But no, I insist on wearing gowns because I like them. I feel confident in them. Confidence, as we all know, sells dances.

All time cheapest outfit that guys love....... a mans dress shirt long and baggy with the sleaves rolled up, if you want to get give it a little edge, add a tie and hat.

I forgot to consider the vibe of the club. If everyone is wearing gowns and you show up in bikini, you will look out of place. Match the style of your club. Fit in but retain your personality as much as possible.

I agree with vegasbebe. Buy one nice stripper outfit from a certified stripper dressmaker. You'll probably pay about $100. I assure you that it's worth it. Stripperwear is much more durable and you can take it on and off it 2 seconds.

i agree that you have to treat it like a job, not a joke. you can't just pull stuff out of your closet and wear it.

a lot of department stores have nice gowns in the juniors section.

#1 What are your clubs rules? That matter quite a bit
#2 What are you comfortable in? If you are not comfy you will not be sexy
#3 ASk the other girls in your club.

well go to target or k-mart and buy some cheap matching sets. they have lacey booty short type panties with a matching top and you can buy a bra to go under or not.

Maybe it was helpful advice, she was just pointing out to you that your profile says you are a man. This site gets trolled a lot, something she being a veteran poster would know, and you NOT being a veteran poster wouldn't know.

I bought a cute hot pink thong with jewels on the back the other day at Walmart. I have not purchased anything for stripper stuff at any dept store for years. I can't believe how the local dep stores have changed their womens pantie section from satin and lace and granny panties to stuff a stripper wears at the club..a LOT of that stuff was dirt cheap and really awesome. It's funny how regular women are buying that stuff and call us shit for it..lol

Yes do go buy at least 1 or 2 stripper outfits from a dancewear store. They may seem high priced at the time, trust me I damn near flipped out when I bought my first one. But they are an investment, they will last longer and are alot easier to take on and off quickly.
Do look in wal-mart and Kmart as well. My school girl outfit that everyone loves cost me less than $25. Plaid skirt that I shortened myself, sexy little black bra, a pink crop sweater that buttons just under my breast so the bra shows, and some white knee socks.
Ask any of the other girls if they have any outfits they are tired of or just would like to sell.

If you are working in the Boston metro area I know of one lady, in particular, who makes and sells BEAUTIFUL stuff and her bikinis and shorts sets are not that much. The gowns and pans sets/catsuits are a different story. I also know that she makes the club rounds throughout the week so there is no way you have missed her. Maybe you could ask around to the girls at the club. Maybe they need to do a little cleaning of the closets and would be interested in selling some of their stuff. I used to sell stuff all the time.

If you are intested in some inexpensive stuff from the lady I mentioned, PM me and I'll give you her number.

yeah, you can find a cute cheap outfit from rave or forever21. Be creative and fun. Try mixing some hot pink shots with orange thongs and a cute tank. Or go lacey for a sexy nighttime appeal. I like buying the tie thongs from federicks. Guys don't really care about "outfits", just how you move in them and your personality. Happy hunting!

I would say you need real dance cloths they cost but they are worth ever penny i love my dance wardrbe i am selfish with it i don't share and i never plan to sell even after i am done i collect the stuff i like to dress up for my hubby plus i have about a grand investested in it. I don't think that kmart and teen stores are the way to go for the majority of your wear its cute if you find something just right but i don't recomond going soley that way. Please get a good dance thong will run from 10 to 20 bucks they look the best of stage espically the white one they glow. And get a sexxy brazil outfit if you can only buy one or two outfits they have the best qulity and best stage presance. And always wear good dance heals no payless clear sandles or whatever the hell i have seen girls try to wear. Have fun shoping.
