If you want, click to download Paint Shop Pro (v. 7.04) instead of Photoshop. Then, email me for the patches to make them yours. They have later versions, of course, but I still use the 7.04.. It's the best in my opinion. I think PSP blows photoshop away, personally.
(Yes, people.. I "acquire" most of my software. You won't catch me paying $300 or more for software. Screw that.)
Rhia is right. I am an avid photoshop user but PSP is more towards doing what everyone needs it to do without the extra apps and fluff.
90% of the time Photoshop is overkill and people forget photoshop is for PHOTOS not animated gifs or shit,
PSP is awesome.
People are not ruled by their memories.

Almost any photo software (some of which comes free with digital cameras) can do picture resizing. I do use PSP 7 myself though.

Crystal_eyes,
For those wanting a simple small program to resize photos like jpg's or regular gif's(not animated gifs) or want a program to view almost any image type, video and sound, i recommend irfanview, its free. Irfanview, for example, will sharpen, colorize, has special filters plugins, brighten/contrast and crop an image to make another image. It will let you use the space bar or up/dn keys to view all images in a folder. It does about 75% of all the image manipulation mostly done. PSP or Photoshop do the other 25% with fancier plugins and image control.
I use irfanview as my default image viewer...and yes, i use PSP9 on occasion.

Thank you very much I'll try that one.

Well I hope this belongs here not trying to highjack the thread....but what about contouring your body with PSPS? Such as taking out a lil tummy here...making your butt look smaller. ...etc?

I'm sure it's possible, TM.. It's got a bunch of filters that you can download that might do something like that. If I had time, I'd play around a bit.. But I'm too homicidal right now.
The easiest and most powerful photo editing tool out there is ACDSee, hands down.
Photoshop is for professional artists and the like, as Mast said.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

Another good one is (I use version 10). Works real good for photo-editing. Quite a few photographers that I know use it, and that's what got me hooked.

many overkills here.
microsoft paint that comes with windows can resize photos. (stretch under image)
there are other free, very simle photo editors (irfanview).

The Gimp, is free and not lacking in features to my knowledge.

Please don't steal software.
It's NOT overkill when a question was asked about a certain program. Everyone is free to talk about the programs that they use and what works best for them. It gives people options.Originally Posted by goo321
MS Paint resizes pictures--that's about it. Other than that, it's crap.

Paint is better suited for a simple drawing/coloring tool than a photo editor. It will work in a pinch for resizing, but it also requires a steady hand to use that stretch/contract tool. The results also sometimes aren't that good.Originally Posted by goo321

I find the GIMP interface a bit non-intuitive. I recommend GIMPShop, which is GIMP modified to have a Photoshop-like interface.

Like GIMP, GIMPShop is free.
I agree with most of you, Photoshop is way overkill for just the regular user that wants to resize, crop, simple adjustments. But if you want to do more complex and creative compositions, then you will find Photoshop a lot better because of the amount of things you can do.
PSP is good but I do find PSP a bit limiting (at least many years back when I first started to get serious with photo editing).
Recently, google released their free photo editing software which is awesome. Give it a try, it's called picasa.
@tigersmilk - to do these 'computer makeovers' everyone does it their own way and plastic surgeons may have their own software. However, I use Photoshop primarily for all my 'touch-up' work such as toning down double chin, rolls, blemishes, etc etc. But then again, that's just personal preference.
I've even done a few super imposing where people can't even tell (well sorta).
Send me a pic and tell me what you want done and I can do it.![]()

Definitely Photoshop for complex stuff like body contouring. I look like a darn supermodel when I get done playing with my pics!!! And that's a biiiiiiig stretch!
Photoshop is very easy to use if you take a couple minutes to just look at the features. If you are just trying to resize an image, go to Image->Image Size. If you think it is too big or too small, my favorite keyboard shortcut is 'step backwards' (undo) which is ctrl+alt+z.
If anyone has any questions or needs help, I am on my computer with photoshop open for hours almost every day. One of my other jobs is as a photo editor/photographers assistant
