    Default special card?

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I have a question. I live in vancouver and commute to portland oregon to dance. there is this little store in vancouver that I sometimes get my outfits, it is the only one i know of in vancouver. I have purchaced several things there before, and have always gotten a discount on clothing, dancewear stores in the portland area offer a 10% discount on clothing if your a dancer. but recently I went in and the lady behind the counter claimed I needed a special card, proving I'm a dancer, that should have been issued by my club. On top of that, she claimed she had never seen me before in her life, when I know she has helped me a few times before, its not a busy store, usually, 99% of the time, I'm the only customer in there. I have never heard of a card issued to dancers just to prove that she was one. I have heard that you need a licence to strip in some states, but that isn't the case in portland, so whats the deal with the card? I'm not getting my panties in a bunch over the 10%, but why did this rule suddenly just started being enforced and why havn't I or any other dance I've asked ever heard of such a thing. I'm just wondering if anybody out there has heard of this type of card...

It's called a "business card". You can make one using photoshop and your picture.

She probably wants something like this if she is giving discounts. No one wants to part easily with money...

We ahve to get a dancers licence where I work. It comes in handy on those 10% off deals. Even at the Mac makeup counter 10% off!

She doesn't want a business card, I have those for my artwork, i design them myself, she wants something from my club. and they have never heard of it.

Maybe the store gave some cards to your club to pass out to the dancers. I have a card like that for The Metro; there were some in the dressing room at my old club a couple years ago. If you shop at Cathie's (in Portland) they'll give you a 15% discount and you don't need any special card, they just ask where you work and put you in the computer.

I find that it depends on the store and who is working. A lot of female managers can be very bitchy towards dancers. One girl asked me for a pay stub. But she settled for just the name of the club I was working at. I'd just go in again and before you pick anything up i'd go right to the cash to talk to the girl. If they want something you don't have try to get them agree to something eles. I once showed a girl the list of rules the bar gave me.

You could also "make" a letter or some kind of "official" document from the club. I did that for a couple of places in order to get something (MAC...*cough cough*).

I actually have an "ID" card for the club I am working at. It doesn't have my name on it, but it has the name of the club and my dancer number.. I think it's silly, but they told me to carry it around with me when I am working..
Maybe your club was supposed to give you one?
Like everyone else said I have always just told them store that I am a dancer and they let me have the discount, I doubt that many people would lie about it, most non-dancers aren't going to know about a discount.
Maybe you should show her your bruises next time.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
