Only advice I can think of is make sure anything you take is safe if your breast feeding. Also lots and lots of cardio. One of the girls I dance with just had a baby and she said she went for lots of jogs pushing the baby stroller(she had one of those funky sporty looking ones made for running and stuff). Anyway just lots of cardio targeting the abs and love handles. Good luck and welcome to SW

You need a balance of cardio + weight training & also try to eat healthy. As far a exercise goes, has some of the best workout dvds ever.

    Are you Breast Feeding?

as said above, Cardio is important, as are weights, since you have a baby, time is probably at a premium, so body weight exercises should be your focus.

Dips, Lunges, Hindu Squats, push ups, pull ups, chin ups,

for explanations of any of the above exercises you can google the name, or just ask and I'll go into details as well as things around the house you can use.

For Cardio, try and get 30 minutes a day, if you don't get your heart pumping it doesn't count.

Nutrition, With out thinking like an Anorexic, remember burn the calories that you eat, to maintain weight, burn more Calories then you eat to loose weight. everyone hates Calorie counting, so try and plan your meals with a rough idea of how many calories are in each one, target a 1600-1800 cal/day diet, with 30 minutes of Cardio and weights, as well as taking care of a baby 2000 cal should be easy to burn off.

Try walk away the pounds with leslie sansome, whatever her name is, their about 7 bucks per video at target.
Also, fit to strip w/carmen electra, her 2'nd video is awesome.
Don't sit down, if you sit down all the time your hips will be permanently wide. Ride a bike, or some other stationary equipment while watching tv.
If your still breast feeding, don't stop. The more you nurse, the more you looos, as it takes the fat from your stomach to make the milk(you know that obnoxious pouch? thats for breast feeding)

Hi! I had a baby too and what helped in addition to cardio/weight training 4-5 days a week was PILATES. Definitely take Pilates at least 2-3 times a week, preferably in the morning. It helps you tone your abdominals and other muscles. The workout both relaxes and energizes you and I say do it in the morning because, upon finishing the workout, you will feel ready to take on the day& the challenges of taking care of your little squidgie. When you are finished breastfeeding take Tonalin CLA. That stuff literally burned off my last 10 lbs of baby fat.
    Congratulations on your baby!

Congratulations on your new baby! How exciting!

I have 3 kids. I nursed the last 2. Believe it or not, that was enough to drop the remaining weight. I didn't nurse either of them for long either.. My first baby, I didn't really have to do anything at all, and wore my size 3 jeans home from the hospital. My second, I nursed for about 3 months. My youngest, I nursed for a little under a month. The pain from it almost made me give up though. Your uterus contracts, and for a while, it's very painful and when you are nursing, you feel it all over. But that's a sign that it's getting back to its normal size. Of course, I had to deal with the incisions burning too, but that was due to the C-Sections. I just about gave up though, with the added burning of the incisions.

If you're not nursing, do cardio and drink lots of water. Don't pay attention to the scale, just pay attention to your body. You'll notice the inches drop.

Another thing I did was walk. I'd just pop the kids in the stroller and walk an hour or two a day. You'd be surprised at how much that helps.

Tonalin is great as well. But if you're breastfeeding, you can't take it. I'm taking it now to firm up rather than lose weight. I've been on it for a little over a week, and It has made a HUGE difference.

So whether you're doing a ton of cardio, or just walking, drink LOTS of water. That's vital.

Good luck to you! And congrats again!

Just curious as to whether or not you ladies developed stretch marks? After my friend had her baby she had this horrible looking loose stomach skin full of stretch marks. How do you get rid of that???

I was lucky enough to dodge the stretch marks.
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about your skin being stretched. I think that has to do mostly with genetics. I did use lotion while pregnant and that may have helped, but my Mom had twins and another baby a year later and she never got stretch marks either.
I know a girl at work who had the loose-skin-on-the-tummy problem. She went to a plastic surgeon to have it fixed and now she looks great.
Other than that...once the skin is stretched, there isn't much more you can do.

I was one of the unlucky ones who got stretch marks! Luckily, they don't cover my whole belly, just below my belly button, but the only thing that fades them is time! Don't rely on whether your mother got them or not as an indicator if you do. My mom didn't get one, and I obviously did. The loose skin you can't do much about. I was lucky enough to not really get any, just a teeny patch at the very bottom of my belly, but it's hardly noticeable, unless I suck my belly in. You can help your skin look firmer just by exercising.
