Whoa, what clubs are only charging $5 dances? That totally sucks.

I hope things work out for you in getting settled.

    Mojo:
Welcome to the rest of the world of strip clubs.
Every state law is different, and every club within the state differs. This is just the way it is.

Here in New York the girls pay anywhere from $100-$300 per shift to work (depending on which club you are in). However, the reason the clubs charge the girls is because they look at it like a 'rental' fee. You are paying to use their space.

I agree, I thinks it's absolutely ridiculous. Your only choice is to keep looking around.

And $5 dances? Forget it! At least here you get $20 a dance! You are worth way more than $5!!!

Maybe its $10 topless and the club takes the first $5. Mojo, you need to find a better club/work environment.

If you are an independent contractor, rather than an employee, your money deal is first with the customer. Then the club charges you like a rent that contractor hairdressers pay. In my opinion if clubs would allow the dancers to have an employee status, most of them would be better off.

You could find some way to ask customers for tips separate from what the club requires. I'm not talking extras, just some hustle. If you don't do it, you will not get it and that just hurts you.

I can't imagine how emotional it was for you to lose everything and then have to uproot yourself and your social system all at once and then go thru the travails of finding something to substitute for it. You are not alone. If your customers know something of this, depending on your club's clientele, maybe they will be a little more generous.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Do you know what else is $5? Minimum wage. No, wait. Minimum wage is, believe or not, a little more.

You might want to check out Corpus Christi about 2 hours south of San Antonio. Dances are $20 except for the first Tuesday of each month at Club Cheetah when they run a special. It or the Palace Men's Club are the nicest places and both seem short of girls the last few times I've been in. Club Cheetah gets a younger crowd with a lot of military from the local base while the Palace gets more of the bussiness crowd.

I've actually walked out with a couple of hundred dollars left of what I planned to spend the last few times due to a shortage of girls and most of those just wanted to drink with their friends.

Wow, I thought I had it bad with 10$ dances up here. I can't believe that there is such a thing as a 5$ dance!

I can't complain about tips outs too much though, my club is only 10$ per shift.

In some cases, $5 dances may not be so bad, depending on what type of club you're in. Guys may be more inclined to buy dances when they otherwise wouldn't, and perhaps buy more.

However, that's not always the case b/c if a guy only buys one, then you only make that $5. Like I said, it depends on the club. At my club, I'll give air dances for $5 on the floor. When it's slow, or when I run into cheap custys, it works. It also helps me sell real lapdances.

$5 dances? Is that for a contact dance for an entire song? No wonder guys talk about the $20 blow job. This is the USA, not Thailand or Mexico. $5 for a hot girl getting naked and grinding a man into submission is just unreal. Why not just do it for free, almost the same thing. Christ you can't by a Venti coffee drink for that at Starbucks!

Okay, I'm off my soap box. I'm just in shock right now about that price point. If I only have $5 to tip with I would just put it on the stage for the dancer.

I don't understand why some clubs call house fee "tip out" It's not a tip. Who are we tipping? The owner's wallet? The DJ gets a tip out. The bouncer might get a tip out but the house? Hell no. It's a fee plain and simple.

At my club, when we did 5$ dances, they were topless only, no contact (Well, the girl can touch the man slightly), 2.50 minute song.

a 'house fee' is a mandatory transfer of money from a dancer to a club, which is a legitimate business expense tax deduction for the dancer and a source of taxable income for the club. On the other hand, 'tip outs' from dancers to DJ's, bouncers etc. do not officially involve the club and are arguably a non-tax deductible 'gift' on the part of the dancer.
