    Default Mascara Problem!!!

Has anyone used the new mascara by L'Oreal called Volume Shocking?? It comes in the funny-looking tube. Well, I can't get it to look good for the life of me! It has this special mascara comb that is suppossed to deliver the "perfect amount" to your lashes after you apply the lengthening white-stuff, but I just get clumpy, spidery lashes every time!!! If anyone has any tips or tricks out there it would be greatly appreciated. I spent 10 bucks on this mascara and am really pissed () if I just have to throw it away! Thanks ladies!

Try using it without the lengthening white stuff. I've seen it work for some people- but it may not for you.

Also, do you have a decent lash comb? I would seriously invest in one. I will not apply macara without my lsh comb, dammit! That might solve your problem. Don't get the cheap plastic kind- get the one with metal teeth.

I use vitamin E oil on my eyelids to get rid of heavy mascara. Sometimes I use it afterwards or before I wash my face.

I have the same problem. That white stuff fucks your eyelashes but bad... It makes it all look clumpy and just nast. Which is a shame. I've tried lash combs as well didnt make a difference. IMO its a waste of money..

I love that shit, it works great on my crappy ugly lashes. Fakes will damage your naturals after a while. A lash comb is helpful though, as it can sometimes go on too thick....

Ok, to be more specific....I put on the white layer first and my lashes look great, really long and individually defined, but white, haha. Then I use the actual mascara and because the wand is some weird little comb instead of a brush, it ends up putting wayyyy too much on my lashes, so they end up thick little triangles. I've tried wiping some of the mascara off of the comb before I put it on and that has helped a little. I also run a lash comb through them afterwards. My natural lashes are about so-so in length and in number. This stuff is suppossed to give you long AND volumized lashes. I just can't figure out how to work it right!

I always wipe the mascara brush with tissue before applying. I have never seen an makeup artist just go stright from the tube to the eyelashes because there's too much product on it. when you apply powder from your brush, you usually tap the brush to free the excess powder, right? Same idea. Especially the glop at the end of the tube- I always remove that.

I still believe in a decent lash comb. Get the high quality ones that are tightly spaced with metal teeth.

Make sure the white stuff is completely dry before putting on the mascara. With the mascara, wipe off as much as you can. You should just have enough mascara to barely coat the lashes, and then do 2 coats.

I like that stuff as well....but it took me a week to get the look right.

I can't help with the white lengthening stuff because I never found a way to make it work for me either but...

I buy my drugstore cosmetics at Rite-Aid because they have a great return policy on their make-up. Just bring in your receipt and they refund your money no problem. Even if it's been used. Those few bucks here and few bucks there really add up when you're just throwing away crappy make-up.

I use Maybelline XXL volume and it also comes with the double ended brush. I always wipe the tip of the white mascara wand first and apply in a sort of zig-zag motion so that the product is mostly at the base of your lash line and doesnt clump at the tips of your lashes. I would suggest you do one eye at a time because the white stuff dries really fast and can clump. Also apply the black mascara in the same motion so it doesnt weigh down your lashes and cause them to have excess product at the tips

Id say return it, those white bottom coats are usually a pain in the butt. If youre paying 10 bucks anyways, i would reccomend Benefit BadGal lash (liner is awesome too). Its about $15, but it is amazing, and lasts forever. Ive had this last tube for about 6 months and still using it about 4 times a week. But remeber, curl (dont just squeeze down, kinda open and close the curlers) put on about 2 coats of mascara, then comb. Makes it almost look like fake lashes, but not too tough to get off

I'm a professional make-up artist, and I find this trick to be very helpful. Blot the white brush with a tissue before you apply it to remove excess product. Wiggle at roots, then pull through to the ends. When applying the black, again blot excess product from brush with a tissue. Apply first coat TO THE ENDS OF THE LASHES ONLY. Apply second coat to entire lash. This really extends the lash without clumpiness. Concentrate on outer corners, and use a lash comb before it sets.

Your not waiting long eanouph before you put on the second coat. try waiting five minutes. It is So worth it, I have a similar type, and I had that problem till I figured out the waiting. Put it on way to soon, mascara has white streaks in it. Put it on a minute to soon, and the white crap won't adhere to your lashes eanouph, and make them clump together.
Think of it like putting on nail polish, two coats. to soon, it blends, a minute two soon, it'll just look bubbly, crappy, or it will peel off when you wash hands.
Same thing with mascara, but for eyes.
The things we do for beauty.....*sigh*
For a similar look, try a clear mascara on bottom, with a volumiser on top. Works wonders, the key is two coates to make em pop.

I have used a comb mascara before and threw it away. I really like WalGreens new brand of makeup. I only get the mascara and its about 7.99 for the big tube. It works better then the department store brands I use to buy. Its called IsaDora-Build up extra volume mascara. This is the BEST I have found. It doesn't clump, it moist not dry, last a long time, and I can put layer over layer on which is great!

If you can't get the comb to work, hit the drugstore or Target & pick up some "spoolies" in the brush area of the makeup dept. Try using them instead of the comb that came with the mascara.
And definitely use a lash comb. Keeps away the Tammy Fae lol

the xxl stuff always worked for me... it has the regular mascara brush on both ends, no weird comb thing. i use a lash comb to get out any clumps, but it's never a serious problem.

I have that one by Maybeline. I wipe off the excess on both sides before applying. Also wait til the white dries up first, then apply the black. Looks good at first, then a few minutes later.... looks like spiders on my lids.
