Default HELP HELP HELP! newly moved to MI, no money!

Im not sure if you all recall my previous post inquiring about other dance clubs near ann arbor/ypsi area, but I made it here, got hired at both the playhouse and bogarts, and tried them both... bogarts I got groped to all hell, ripped up by their ghetto poles, and only made 30 after the rediculous tipout and my hard effort at dancing (I like alot of pole tricks...etc... noone does them up here!).

Today I tired the playhouse, and made NEGATIVE 30 dollars, would have been negative 50 if they hadnt waived the house fee! People up here just dont feel it is right to tip for a raucous stage performance... why is that? I work hard at my job! One thing I do not do though is drink with the customers (I dont drink, but I will talk with most for up to 30 minutes or so then try to work in convo about getting a dance). Why are my wages so awful...?

Im in a hole here, normally I wouldnt divulge my wages, but back in Philadelphia I used to average about 150 to 100 a shift if you spread it out through good and bad seasons.

I dont want to work at fight club, as they charge 100 to 200 per shift to work, fuck that, plus none of your own music. All the clubs owned by the bogarts/leggs guys seem to be BS as well, with high housefees and non-existant stages for dancing! I also went into the landing strip and the poles were WAYYYY too thick to dance on!

So what should I do? How do you girls do it up here? One other option I am considering is skimpily-dressed waitressing or bartending, of which I have experience. Are there any good locals for that up here?

Do you want to get a Detroit dance card? If so, you might try Trumpps on 8 mile. Or, if not, you might try Subis Place in Southgate. I just got back into town after being gone for a month and a half so I'm not sure of the money these days here. It wasn't too great when I left.

I can't help you with anything else, but I will say that you are robbing yourself by sitting at a table for more then 2-3 songs without asking for a dance. You are giving the customer FREE TIME by sitting there for a half an hour. Go hit the Hustle Hut and learn better hustling skills.

See.... at these clubs it seems they EXPECT you to sit a half hour or more! All the other girls do! In Philly I hustled dollars and dances but so far neither bogarts nor playhouse has seemed have a "hustle-friendly" atmosphere amongst the custies. It SUX! Thanx all for the replies... any other ideas keep em coming!

I used to live in the Detroit suburbs and danced in Detroit for nearly two years. Both of the clubs you mentioned are dumps and I highly suggest you go somewhere else. If you live on the westside, try Landing Strip in Romulus or Flight Club in Inkster. BT's in Dearborn is okay. You need the license, but Bouzouki's downtown was awesome on hockey nights and any major sporting event -Superbowl !!! I might come home to work for it, but I really don't want to deal with guys trying to grope me. Detroit is a med-high contact city (depending on the girl) and football guys are the worst. As mentioned above, Trumpps on 8 mile is a good club. When I was last there over the summer, Trumpps was doing the best out of all the 8 mile clubs. Those are your best options, good luck!

Ok. i have worked at a few clubs in a few of the cities. i work at potter's In Jackson right now (abot a half hour west on I-94 fron Ann Arbor). can be good money but it's not really a hustler's bar. all the guys are laid back and like conversation. med contact. Less than Detroit but more than on the west side of michigan. A great option for you would be Omar's in lansing, if the drive isn't that bad for you. A topless club with a descent tip out. It's very nice on the inside. Med contact like in Jackson. $10 dances (you keep) downstairs, $25 dances upstairs (bar gets like $7). if not then you're gonna have to either check out the romulus clubs (playhouse and landing strip) or dish out the money for a detroit liscence. Either way you'll still have the higher contact. I think you would like Omar's. They have a bikini contest on Weds. Let me know if you need any more info about any of the clubs and I will help ya as much as I can.

Is there a reason you picked MI to dance? MI is a very hard place to make $ in.You have to have more of a people hustle thing going for you,not just relying on your pole tricks for $.

sorry to say, but most of the michigan clubs SUCK up here....detroit is med to high contact depending on girl, u can get away with none or little contact if u make sure to check ur customers...i would try tycoons or trumps on 8 mile. tycoons was pretty nice when i worked there. i have heard good things about omars in lansing, never went cause it's pretty far for me....sorry couldn't be much more help....last time i danced the money and clubs were pretty slow here...good luck....

Im into bartending now, but am looking to dance for a few nights prior to the holiday for extra rent cash post-shopping. How are nude clubs compared to topless with contact? In my old city, Philly, they varied to the same extremes. I am right next to Deja-vu, it would just make my life easier and hopefully more money in the few days I have to come up with extra cash.

There is no money in this business up north. Waitresses at
restaurants bank more these days. With Gm, Ford in such
sad shape, money is not what is once was

you can try the hour drive to lansing. Go to Omars. It is a nice place. Not real dirty, decent money, house fees aren't outrageous. I always loved it there, but it's a crappy drive from Ann Arbor. Not too bad though.

Now you know it isn't working for you. So you must change the common practice there into what works for you. Maybe they have regulars, and they spend time to keep them as regulars. You don't, yet anyhow. Unless the club requires this down-time (makes little sense), you need to do what works for YOU. A short tease, maybe a sample, then the question.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

I'm sure part of it is regional, but I get the feeling you could improve your sales skills. Philadelphia is actually a pretty decent city to work in, so if you were making $100-150 a shift, I think you could do better. $300-500 a shift is pretty typical for girls with decent sales skills in Philly. I think it may be an inaccurate perception that guys expect you to sit with them for free.

Also, the club with the high house fees are usually that way because there is a demand to work there (in other words, the girls are making good money.) Nobody would put up with high house fees if the money potential wasn't there.

Weezo, have you ever considered crossing over the bridge and dancing in Windsor, Canada? Not sure how the US currency exchange rate is now, but it use to be very good...? Also, the laws and paperwork for working in Windsor maybe different, but it is worth a look.

I'd say go with Deja Vu...I work in the Fort Gratiot one and it's decent money...at least it's picking up again after a short time without any big spenders lol. I made about $200 last night i worked and so i'm sure that you'll be able to make some money...Fort Gratiot is apparently the worst club...inside wise...(decor) from deja vu. It was owned by someone else and she was just renting the name somehow and so they waited for her to go under and now are revamping us! THANK GOD! but if i can make some money working here than you should by far be able to make money at Yipsilanti! TRY IT!

Im happy at Deja Vu, it is the only club up here I can give a dance at and have yet to see a girl getting fingered giving head, and management actually seems to check in on dances (feels more like home in Philly). I guess nude and topless are switched around a bit up here... nude seems way cleaner in this close to Canada realm, girls actually dance on stage, and I am making the money I want to make.

After trying flight club and pretty much getting told "You will see things happen, look the other way", I enquired amongst other girls and men working in the industry up here only to find extras are standard at most topless clubs... as I found after trying 6 of them... I think its just a little fucked up. Prostitution should never be industry standard, as in Philadelphia I made plenty of money dependant upon my hustle, and in most clubs guys could not even touch me...

I'm sorry but how on earth could you give 1/3 of your heard earned cash to the bar every night and be on a schedule on top of having to sell merchandise and give 2-for-one dances??? Also, if you can't fathom the idea that there are going to be extras going on discreeetly at ANY club in the country, how is it plausible for you to work somewhere where you see two girls go into a booth to do a double-dildo show for a man as they have to watch him jack off and accept money through a slot? I told you before to try Subi's in Southgate...seriously---1/2 of the girls there drive from Toledo, Ann Arbor, pontiac, etc. also, if you can't sit and chat for a few, you'll never make it in this business anywhere for long. Guys want attention and chatting for a minute IS hustling; it's simply talking the man into you by pretending you're intersted in him. I hope to seeyou at Subi's this Friday before Deja Vu brainwashes you anymore than they already have. Trust me, I've been there.
