Funny, I'm an American who wants to dance around Australia. We could swap!

I don't know where to recommend, but I would NOT recommend L.A. or Memphis. You should definitely try Vegas, just for the experience. With an Aussie accent you'll bank like crazy no matter where you go!

Where would you recommend in Oz? I used to live on the Gold Coast but the other Aussies on this forum don't make it sound like a good town to dance in. Have you ever danced in Hobart? I LOVE that city.

DAMN, I miss Australia so much.

I could be totally wrong, but couldn't she come here on a 'vacation' for a month or two and dance?? It's my understanding that many clubs don't generally report everything to the IRS, so couldn't she get away with it if she wasn't coming here for a long amount of time? I mean, it would probably help if she knows someone, but I would think it *could* be a possibility. Or am I totally wrong?

^ Well, you could TRY it...but most upscale clubs would require some kind of government documentation stating that you are legal and can work (proper Visa, etc) otherwise, they won't hire you. Since 9/11, it's been harder for people to get visas to get into the US in any way. Of course, if you were to "slip" in illegally, I'm sure that would be no problem. LOL (just kidding, by the way).

I posted a similiar thread quite awhile back prior to making my trip to Vegas for the DancerWealth seminar (over a year ago now). If my memory serves me correctly, Texas is a good state to work within without papers.... stay away from Houston tho. I was going to give Austin, Texas a go.

In the end, tho' ... without the proper papers you won't be able to work in alot of counties in the US.... and the clubs that do accept you to work within them... well.. they won't be the best. Forget about dancing in places like Vegas or anywhere else that requires sherriff's cards and licenses ... etc.

Dancing in the US is not feasible for us Aussies even tho' with our accent we would bank (when I was in OGs (Vegas) as a custy I hardly used any of my own money as the guys would give ME money to tip the dancers with since I was an Aussie chick ).

Believe me.... I would be soooo over there if it was feasible.

This is some thing I'm really curious about, too.

I was in LA at the start of the year and went to a few clubs just to have a look and 'soak up the vibe'. Ya know, see the girls dancing down on the Sunset Strip, Motley Crue style! So much fun to be on the other side of the tip rail for once.

Any way, I'm planning a trip to NY some time next year and am considering making it a working holiday (will obtain a visa, etc) and would love some advice on a good place to dance. Or is NY a little bit jaded and over Aussies?

What sort of city would really appreciate the novelty of an Australian girl? I have a whole book of Kangaroo and Great White Shark stories ready to tell to the man with the biggest wallet.....

Marie, you'd probably be most exotic in a small town. I'm sure you don't want to spend your whole trip in the boonies, but you could really bank on your accent with guys who have never heard it before.

Hmmm, I'd really like to explore the south a bit... maybe spending a bit of time working in the sticks to fund some fun up in NY is a good option to consider.

I'd have to pack my little Aussie flag bikini... I knew it would come in handy one day!

OMG, you'll bank with that! Just be prepared for everyone to think you're English. Most Southerners can't tell the difference, LOL!

If you're in the area, Memphis is a GREAT party town and a wonderful place to visit. Great food, great bars, cool history, everything. You just don't want to dance there; the strip clubs are skanky. You might try Atlanta though, I think there are some good clubs there.
