All the experiences I've had with temporary color have been really sucky. I have really dark brown hair, though, so I'm sure it has a bunch to do with that. Maybe a lighter haired SWer can give you some good ones, but I've only had luck with permanent color. :/

Temporary color is perfect for what your looking for, darker or richer color results. Most salons offer demi and semi permantent hair color services.

If you're on a budget, beauty schools offer the same services at a fraction of the price. Since the color is temporary and dosen't damage the hair, you can relax a little about having a novice weilding the tint brush.

If you can only afford to eat Top Ramen this week, you may want to consider an at home kit. There are several brands that offer semipermanent color that last up to 28 shampoos. I think Loreal's Feria line came out with a temporary hair color that lasts up to eight shampoos and it's under $8 at Target. That may be a good way to introduce yourself to a new color without the commitment. If your hair is past your collar bone, buy two boxes.

No matter what your decision, remember that any type of temporary color will only darken or intensify your existing hair color.

Garnier is good for temp. colour! My friend uses it and she loves it. She has brown hair, and buys the box that has a tad of red in it...it's very pretty. Mild. There is a toll free number on the box to call them and ask questions if you want to try it out!

    It just fades out slowly!!!

I have used a dark brom temp color from Sally's Beauty Store/shop, whatever its called. And it worked great, I used the brand Beautiful Collection, by Clairol Proffessionals. I have a red tint in my hair and it took it to brown for a week or so and gradually washed out. Do NOT use black, it will mess your color up so bad, black does NOT come out even if it says semi permanent

Im disappointed an will never buy Feria Reds again. The permanent color only stay in my hair 1 1/2 weeks b4 it faded back into my natural brown clor. And it's not like I didn't take care of it either. Washed the least amount of time possible and when I did wash it I used that expensive color treated hair care line Nioxin

Reds fade on me like a sonofabitch, too. And I use the pro stuff! Something about that particular color just doesn't want to stay put.

To better understand the dark or red color over lighter hair thing.... think of the whitewall effect. If you have a wall that is painted white, and you put a coat of red paint on it, there will still be spots of white that you can see through the red. That's why it takes a few coats to get good coverage.

Same applies to hair color. Going darker is usually a process and it generally takes more than one application to keep the color from fading.

Just keep in mind... red will ALWAYS fade. Sometimes to pink. It's just the way it is.

Try a color shampoo like Brilliant Brunette or if you can splurge, try Aveda Corlor Conserve or better yet... most Aveda salons can give you a blended shampoo with actual hair color pigment in it to give your color some longevity. It works the best to keep you fresh.

Garnier temp. dye products for hair are not Loreal. Feria. Different.
