    eating after work

This should be the right section for it.But I have a question,do you guys eat after you come home from work,I mean mostly the night shift dancers. It's 3-4 am,you're exhausted and hungry after working for hours. It's really a bad habit to eat that late and it seems like if you do, you wake up in the morning all bloated. Also, after turning 30 the metabolism isn't as great anymore. So if you do that, what kind of food, and do you follow any special diets the next day to compensate for that?

Instead of eating like a meal, why not have a peice of fruit, or a glass of water? Since I've been working, I've been having a bad habit of NOT EATING at all while I'm at work. All I do is drink pop, and that has got to stop.

I like carrots and celery after work, along with apples and maybe some peanut butter for them. With a large glass of water, that way you eat but not as much. It makes it until I get up at about nine for breakfast.

i usually try not to eat when i get off, because i know i'll gain weight if i make it a habit... occassionally i'll get taco bell... you can't go wrong with a small salad after work, or a half of a sandwich..... fruit or veggies too...

I either have a BalanceBar, an apple, or a Light (low sugar) yogurt while I wind down.

After being on your feet and moving for hours on end you're burning calories, so of course you're going to get hungry. If you're not trying to lose weight then I don't think there's a problem with eating a little healthy snack after work. Your body is telling you that you need it in order to maintain your weight. So I personally think that there's absolutely nothing wrong with eating a piece of fruit or something after being on your feet for hours.

Try hot water with lemon its feels like it fills you up for some reason. Ill have a cup a decaf tea before bed with an apple just to make me stop being hungry.

While youre at work really take 20min and eat. It can boost your mood and energy level. Have a bananna and some yogurt with granola. Or veggies and chicken. Something sorta dense so that you wont feel hunrgy when you get home. Try eating 4 hours before youd go to bed.

What are good things to bring to work to eat halfway through the shift, TigersMilk? Something that won't go bad sitting in a dressing room for hours, doesn't need to be microwaved, and won't make your tummy look distended when you dance naked right after eating?

*water, wheat thins, apple or bannana
thats about all I can think of. Its not a real dinner but a snack actually.
Is there no way you can refrigerate or microwave anything? Itll help expand your eating options.

2 boiled eggs. cant go wrong, 120 calories- give or take- and make you feel mildly satified, at least enough satified where yur belly stops grumbling and you can get some sleep.

I like Powerbars, even though they're expensive...
I realize eating before bed makes calories you "sit" on, but.....don't you need food to "fix" the muscle wear & tear from your night shift?

I don't know, I've been reading a lot of articles stating it's the number of calories you consume in a day, not when you consume them, that matters. Of course, if you're still in your calorie range eating a big fat greasy dinner, probably not so good. I think it's fine to eat before bed, just make it something light and nutritious. Though I sleep better on a growling tummy than an overfed, greasy one.

I wouldn't eat fruit before bed. They are full of sugar and carbs that aren't going to be good for your metabolism while you sleep. I'd try steamed veggies and lean protein (fish or poultry.) Maybe a salad or a whey protein shake. I mean I would take fruit over fast food, frozen pizza, mac n cheese, or a sandwhich, but I would say the items named would be the best bet.

A small snack is fine. Fruit would be OK IMHO because it digests quickly and won't sit in your gut for a long time. you don't want to eat a lot of protein before going to bed... but that's just me. I get bloated like mad if I eat protein before bed.

I wish I could be as disciplined as you guys. Iam starving by the time I get home and crave comfort foods. I usually eat one of those soft pretzils with some tostito hot cheese on the side. I really would like to stop for fast food but I save that for the next day when Iam lazy and tired and just order a pizza. Good thing I only work two shifts per week or Id be huge.

I have only danced 2 nights and I ate 2 hours before my shift, didn't eat anything during my shift, but just drank tons of water. Then drank more water on the ride home, managed to scrub my makeup off before passing out on the bed. From now on I'm going to try to eat some fruit or some hot oatmeal and at least take a shower, my hair smells so nasty after work.

If you ever work in Austin, Texas you will see a very strong culture for eating after hours. There are some incredible all night diners in Austin that offer healthy meals at 4 in the morning. Some of the greatest times I've ever had with my friends were at a diner a 4AM. My suggestion: Go and don't eat. All the laughing you will do will burn off plenty of calories.

Okay apprently I am the ONLY girl who eats a grilled cheese with bacon and fries and bud light at the little blue diner in a seedy part of town after work.

When I lived in boston we would all go to this Chinese place (I don't rememeber the name now. It's closed now anyway) and eat lo mein and eggrolls until dawn. If you odered "hot tea" you got beer in a little teapot. ( No beer license)

I should hang my head in shame.

I love nutrition bars... like the ZonePerfect bars because they have a good ratio of fat/carbs/protein to help you energy, stave off hunger, and are nonparishable. They're really not bad tasting, either! Promise!

I'm with Yek on this one. A glass of red wine to calm me down and a bit of cheese for some protein. Not enough sugar in the wine to cause a big rise in your blood sugar and the fat and protein in the cheese slow it down anyway. Also had a big glass of water right before lying down to keep hydrated.

Slept like a baby when I did that.

I like to eat eggwhite omellettes with onion, and green pepper after work, it's filling, only has about 75 calories, lots of protein, low carb, and low fat, you can't go wrong with it
