    Default To platinum girls

Have any of you went from platinum to a darker color? Is it possible to go darker then if you decide to back platinum can you? Seems like platinum hair loses all pigment and couldnt take on color,am I wrong? Or has any platinums streaked brown into their hair with good results?

I know, consult with hair dresser, but want your opinions please.

Yes it's all do-able! I have done it at home too many times. You have to put the red tones back into the blonde hair however to get a deep dark brown!

    Brown to blonde...easier yet imo.

Pamela is right but BE CAREFUL with hair colors with any warmth (red) in them. Red fades VERY quickly on blonde hair and most likely to a color you will hate. I would go with a Neutral color. It should say neutral on the box. (if you are doing this at home)

My best advice is to go to a salon. Tell them you want a consultation because you were thnking of drastically changing your color and needed an idea of price, etc. I do this for ALL of my first time color clients. This way everyone is clear on what you want. This may also be a good time to listen to what the pro reccomends as far as color and then you can try to duplicate it at home. Just listen for key words like ash, warmth, neautral, red. Things like that. Then look for those words on the color boxes.

    Good luck.

PM me if you need some more help.

Soybeangirl you do this for a living? Hair colour etc?

If so let me ask, my natural colour is a puke brown, ash some have said etc.

many people tell me i look better darker.

With my skin which is very light, and light eyes, i wonder.

I have pictures i can send you if this is what you do....

    Thanks,

Nah,.. I JUST went from platinum to a med brown...at home ... go to a place like Sallys to get te stuff.

i did it at home on wednesday and it looks great and was only $20 and took 30 minutes.

I used Loreal Technique ... it has its own developer which is a 9...

Whatever you do DONT DO ASH... do a brown with a neutral base and add a bit of red (but NOT auburn...you want mahogany - auburn will fade and the color wont hold as well).. like a teaspoon to help hold the brown to your hair...

I used 1/2 lt brown 1/2 med brown and a teaspoon of mahogany (so i bought 3 different colors) with developer and its great... and make sure you dont use a permenant... use a semi... you may have to redo it in a couple weeks when it starts to fade but it will look like salon hair. My color looks great... get a lot of compliments ... its just too dark for me personally.

AND if its too dark for your taste or you dont like it you can do a bleach shampoo. (Ill be doing this tonite to lose a bit of the color then adding a Dk Blond... bleach/20 developer/shampoo... mix it all together. wet hair and shampoo with it.. it will start to bring out the color (same thing they do at the salon).. when it gets light enough rinse it out... then add whatever color you want...

    Good Luck!

EDIT: this is the first time ive done my hair myself. Mom has been a hairdresser for 20 years... she always did my hair...then moved far away... she told me what to buy and what to do....

It can be very hard to go darker from platinum.I can also suggest having low-lights done,to be on the safer side.I tried to go darker one time at home, and it looked horrible, the color changed every day after shampoo.Maybe it's just my hair, because I know some girls who went from blonde to brown and looked very good. They said that they missed being a blonde though.

What about going from a really dark brown to a blonde? Will my roots look horrible, will it kill my hair/ look bad with my skin? I have hazel eyes and pale neutral skin tone. It leans towards warm/olive in summer and cool in winter (if that helps).
