    Default Computer video issue

Currently using Firefox and when I want to see a video it tellls me to download a plug-in.
So I attempt to and it tells it cant install the missing plug-in. I want to set windows media player as my default player to play all videos and music on and off the internet. Lost very lost here...Id have a better time navigating in the dark woods.

You should get Windows Media Player Classic
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=82303

I use it to open all video's ALSO you need a codec package which can be found here

    good luck

To set WMP as your default. Open up WMP, click Tools, click options, click File Types, click select all, click apply, then lastly click ok. This is how I do it. Hope that helps.

Edited to add: or instead of clicking select all, you could just click the ones that you want to open with WMP individually then click apply and ok.

I run Windows 2000 Professional. If Im logged in under my regular user name (which has minimal permissions) instead of administrator I often cant install programs and plug ins. I have to log out and log back in as admin in order to do the installations. I dont know if XP and XP Pro work the same way or not.

FBR, yes, they do work the same. That may be Tiger's problem. But most XP users only have set up an administrator level account, which is not a secure practice. Have to set user accounts up in the control panel called User Accounts. You have to have one admin account, so make up another account and set it as as a limited account type, not as a guest acct. Or convert your existing admin account (which you want to convert to limited) but only after you set up the new one as an admin account type.

I'm about ready to use Firefox, but I recall a lot more about Netscape than Firefox/Mozilla. Sorry, I may not be able to help there yet. As I recall about Netscape>Mozilla>Firefox, in Preferences you go to the Applications tab and for each file type, you point to the application such as Windows Media Player, Frontpage or whatever. Windows Media Player in my XP Pro install is in the <Program Files\Windows Media Player> directory, and is called wmplayer.exe.

Further comment, in WMP version 10, I don't see a files selector in Tools/Options, just a lot of tabs, none of which lead to file type selections. I believe file types (for defaulting to WMP) is chosen in the browser instead. I set file types in a folder menu with the Tools/Folder Options and File Types tab.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

Media Center is a version of XP, I believe with a few extra multimedia things.

If I knew what was not workinng, for example what you do not see, maybe we could narrow it down for you. For now I am out of ideas.

Not sure if you resolved this issue yet but I think the first thing is to find out what type of video you are trying to view.

Windows Media Player can pretty much play most of the common formats but not all as there are some proprietary ones that you just can't view with Windows Media Player such as quicktime and realmedia.

Tell us what type of extension that file is and maybe we can help you out further. Also, there are the new types of compression such as DIVX format which requires you to download additional software in order for WMP to play them.
