    Default Joints popping

Ever since I started dancing about six months ago, my joints pop a lot, and loudly, enough that sometimes people comment on how loud it is. It doesn't hurt, and I make sure to stretch and whatnot (I even take glucosamine/msm sometimes if I'm achy for a bit), but does this mean anything? I never used to pop like this before I started dancing...

I don't know if it means anything, but in the last few years, I was starting to sound like someone twisting a bunch of bubble wrap, LOL.

Also looking forward to hearing some answers...

Take a glucosamine, chonroitin,MSM complex, religiously. At least 1,000 MG per ingredient daily.Like mood enhancing meds like prozac,it will take at least 4 weeks to notice the difference.IT WORKS!!!

Speaking of glucosamine, I was in Sam's Club the other day and saw a new product, Joint Juice. I haven't tried it, just thought I would pass the info along. Their site says they have 1500 mg of glucosamine in every serving. Maybe I should try it, my joints always pop even after I quit dancing.

It's the wear and tear of the cartilage.Any glucosamine product will make it better. The higher the miligram, the better.

Hmmm, so taking my g/msm/c supplements on a daily basis will do the trick? I'll definitely try it!

Yes,I have been taking this joint "cocktail" for 9 years and suffered a broken hip last year that required surgery.Because I take care of myself so well and take supplements daily,I feel like the accident never happened. No pains and aches whatsoever!!!

All my joints are basically toast, especially my knees, everytime I stand up it sounds like a bowl of rice krispies - snap, krackle, pop. Just incase I get in trouble again I'm not going to post any links , but here's what I've tried and recommend:
    Glucosamine/Chondroitin
I've taken this on and off for about 8 yrs. It's been alright, but I heard that a recent study stated that both products are basically garbage. Take it for what it's worth, for every one that says its useless, another says its great.
    MSM
I just started taking this in powder form, I got like 200grams for $10. This has really gained in popularity. It's a form of sulfur, which is found in just about every compound in your body. It's not just for joints, but overall health.
    Microlactin
I just started taking this one. It's based around a component of milk. It's suppose to help with joint stiffness and pain.
    Celedrin
I take a topical version of this one. It didn't really do much for me. It's a new product that is made up of a fatty acid complex. It was supposed to be real good for joints.
    Cissus Quadrangularis
This is a very new product with great promise. I'm on my second week of it and things have been great so far. It's used to strengthen tendons and bones.

hi first post here, hope I can help. I am a dancer and gymnast so have sufered from popping joints for years. It's called "crepitus" and is perfectly normal. I've spoken to various physios about it and they all agree its harmless.

The popping noise is caused when the synovial fluid in your joints (which acts as lubricant) isn't as thick as it should be. When you move the joint, the liquid is spread out and the carbon dioxide and oxygen inside is released. So it really is a popping noise. But an okay one

It can be treasted like above with glusamine sulphate and by maintaining water levels during the day. Cutting down on achohol helps too.

However, if you are getting crepitus in your hands, try some grip stregthening exercises as it can degrade your grip on the pole (which ends up bloody hurting!)

Take as mush advice as you want, hope it helps

    x

Thanks a lot! I actually just bought a glucoasmine/chronotin liquid mix... a lot easier than the 4 pills a day I was using earlier, which will hopefully help with the problem more quickly. Thanks for reassuring me and letting me know the proper term.

My knees have popped everytime I bend them since as far back as I can remember (which is about age 7-8 years old). That can't have been from wear and tear...anyone have any ideas what my problem is? Doesn't hurt, but is embarassing on stage.

Scarlett: this is why your joints are doing it...try the cocktails and see if it subsides.
