    Default Not again!

Last year I had a drunk driver hit me who did not have insurance or drivers license, did not see a dime from them. I was lucky the truck is still drivable and had uninsured coverage. But I did not find out about it until a year later. Got my check and saved it for spring plans.

It snowed yesterday and late last night someone drove their car/truck into mine parked along the street and drove off. Not once but TWICE , when they backed up to leave they did not back far enough and hit it again. It's totaled. So now I have to get a different car/truck to drive to work. I still have the same insurance but don't know if it covers hit and run. It was almost paid off too, I only had $215.00 left on it.

My wife and I had big plans to buy atv's this spring, but now I don't know if it will happen. It pisses me off because we were finally getting on our feet after a bankruptcy and the atv's were our reward.

BD, sorry this happened to you. People really suck, don't they?

Don't have any advice as to the new situation, but as far as the old one...why didn't you sue him in civil court for your deductible at least?

Checked with my man and he said that at long as you have comprehensible (not just liability), you should just have to pay your deductible and that's it. If you were paying it off through a car loan, you should have comprehensible because the loan companies require it.

Hope you and the Mrs. get those ATVs. That's one of my all time fave hobbies. Love tearin' it up and gettin' muddy.

Check with your ins. co., but I think you should be ok, minus the deductible. Good luck honey!

I remember when the other thing happened to ya last year. Ugh. I can't believe you have to go through it again. The world is never short of morons, sadly.

Dude. That sucks. Insurance shoud be required with your your license, not on th vehicle. That way, people would be insured regardless of wether it was their car or they had borrowed someone elses.

You should be able to file another claim on the truck. Be sure to get a police report and all that.

I totally understand loosing a car after you finish paying it off. I lost my car after paying it off. It is such a relief to be rid of that payment. I got more pissed off that I would once again be put in payment hell BY SOMEONE ELSE! Not only did they fuck with my car, they fucked with my future money that should be used for something else.

Grrrr! I empathize with you. My stomach is turning already.

Well I am really sorry to hear this. Hopefully insurance covers it. People are really assholes. Although it's a pain in the ass, I would imagine insurance covers it. if you were making payments still, I would imagine you have ful coverage, so you should be fine. A few years back, I had the most basic of basic crappy low-cost full coverage policies, and I had the same thing happen to me and it was covered 100% ..... $10K worth of damage.

    Good luck!

That totally sucks. I had someone sideswipe my last car a couple weeks after I bought it and drove off. Luckily I had State Farm and they paid very quickly and efficiently. But yeah, like was mentioned, if you are still paying on it I'm sure you still had comprehension and collision and it should be covered minus the deductible.

And uninsured motorist coverage is awesome. I actually raised all my limits in case an uninsured motorist hits me after seeing someone I know get hit by an uninsured motorist while she was pregnant and almost lose her baby and have to be on bedrest for five months. If she hadn't had UM she would have been SOL. And it's hard to sue the person if they have no insurance becuase unless they have some assets there's not much you can really get and no attorney would take the case. Guess you could sue them in small claims though...maybe take their ass on Judge Mathis!

Well my insurance wont pay for it. They said we don't know who hit it so we don't know if they had insurance or not. Because it was a hit and run it puts it under collision. I did not have collision because I only paid $1000 for it, but I think I'm going to put full coverage on everything from now on.

It's kinda funny how things work out. I have found a replacement for my truck and it's cheap. A good friend of mine is down and out with a broken foot and off work and has his truck for sale to ease monthy payments. It makes me feel good that I can help my friend out in the time of need. Karma who would have thought.

Well, I'm glad to hear it worked out overall. Now hopefully some bad karma come back to haunt the person that hit your car.
