    Default Knee High Boots

Are these easier on the feet? I generally wear knee high (albeit combat) boots and am used to the ankle/calf support. I am sort of paranod about spending 6+ hours on heels and twisting an ankle. I was thinking of getting some shoes off Hypatia http://www.ineedshoes.com/xcart/cust...me.php?cat=440 in something like these styles, esp the Electra 2025 one. Does anyone here dance in boots and can recommend what to look for? I know with shoes they should be platform, and plastic, but what about the boots?? lol
BTW, I heard something about putting non-slip pads on shoes/boot soles. Do I get this done at a cobblers/shoe store or can I do it myself?

I have the 6 1/2" Candy 100s by Pleasers and I LOVE them. Super comfy...in fact, they're the only pair of heels I can comfortably stay in for a long shift. I highly recommend the brand. I bought a pair of 7 inch platform shoes made by The Highest Heel and they KILL. (Then again, most heels do for me since I have really high arches and it's hard to find shoes that have the arch support I need) I'll dance my half set in the shoes then book it to the dressing room and put my boots on.
Both my shoes and my boots have a one piece sole. That's a must for me when buying any kind of shoe because I almost fell down a flight of stairs once because of a broken heel.
Putting non skid pads on your shoes is called toppying (I think) and you can have it done by a shoe repair guy. (I had mine done by a repair guy in the local shopping mall.) I wouldn't do it yourself just because the pads might come off and that's pretty dangerous. Then again, I know girls who hate the non-skid pads and don't use them. How they dance without them I'll never know, but hey, to each his own right? I had not only my dancin' shoes toppied (spelling?) but all my clubbing and dressy shoes too. I'm a klutz, what can I say. Anyways, I don't remember how much it cost to have them done but I'm cheap and it didn't cause me any great pain to shell out for the service, so it must not have been too expensive.

I wear knee-high boots a lot because I think they are more comfortable, and I am more confident in them. I have bad ankles to begin with, so I like that the boots have extra support in them, and I also can wear my ankle braces with them and they won't be visible to the customers. I wear 5 inch heels with a platform... I'm not sure how high the platform is though. And I put extra padding inside so they are really squishy and comfortable. One pair of my boots have a rubber bottom, so I didn't put non-slip pads on the bottom, but the other pair has a plastic bottom, so I put the pads on those. You can put them on yourself. You can find non-slip pads at pretty much any shoe store, and they have them in the shoe departments at walmart and shopko, and also at walgreens.

Hi Madison. I have rather non skinney ankles myself, and I was wondering about boots to hide this a little, could you put up links to the kind of boots girls wear. Some of them seem to have a really thick heel which I don't think would be very nice for my body type.

I felt exactly the same way...I wonder why that is? I felt like I could kick total ass in my boots...had them in baby blue, hot pink and red in addition to the traditional black and white.

Maybe it's because you are steadier on your feet and you don't have the fear of tripping as much? I know my dance moves were a lot fiercer with the stability of the boots.

Can you still do pole tricks and spins in boots?

Yes you can if you are skilled enough!

However they are great for stage/floor work..easy on the knees.

I love these type of boots! Although i do prefer them with a 5" heel, not platform.

They are a quick fix for a "bad leg day" feeling!!

I like boots just because they feel more sturdy. When I'm in stilletos I feel like I can just top over, boots for some reason feel more like normal shoes that I could wear everyday? I try to only dance in my boots.. .I need to get more colors lol.

I have a long waist and shorter legs, so I always find the boots I got shorten my legs...even black heels seem to do this. The only thing that works to really give me the long long leg illusion are clear six inch heels with platforms (those standard stripper shoes Chris Rock despises). Are there any boots that won't shorten my legs' appearance? The ones I have now are white leather (not patent though). Thanks

Molly, maybe you could try thigh-high boots instead? I'm short too and while I only wear boots with jeans, I've noticed that thigh-high stockings make my legs look longer and knee-highs make them shorter.

Thanks, maybe I'll try a pair, or add some thigh high stockings to my schoolgirl set. I am 5'8", but my legs should be on a girl who's 5'5". I have a long torso.

i cant dance worth a shit in boots. Im not sure why because around the time I started dancing 10 years ago, the go go boot was the deal in or outside the club and it made the booty short thing HOT.

However, I just can't pull it off.

On the comment about thigh high .. EEEK. I dont know if it's just me ( actually I know it's not as I've had this convo with other girls and guys too. ) The thigh high boots look way too street walkerish. Although I've seen some tall girls pull it off well ( if the boots were tight the entire way up.)

for the most part the first image that pops in my head is Julia Robers in Pretty woman, and her unzipping the boot...pulling out the condoms and telling how she's a safety girl.

I think boots are waaay more comfy and easier to do pole work with because they stick better when your climbing it. I started dancing in shoes and would never go back. plus the topys on boots seem to be stickier... i think. its a bit different than dancing in shoes but not to hard of a transition to make.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my boots! I have a pair of black knee highs that I bought at a local hot topic store...not the best place for dancer shoes though lol. They're already falling apart! But i recently invested in some better ones that are being shipped here. Can't wait till they get here!

As for pole tricks.......I think that boots are great, I like the extra stick they give me for hanging inverted and being able to climb the pole easier! I'm not the strongest with my arms yet so it's good to have the extra grip
Spins are hard at first, but after you figure out the grip of your boots and all that jazz it isn't hard. I can do all of my spins with my boots on. They don't interfere at all....but when i first got them i almost killed myself doing a spin when my boot caught the pole and gripped lol! Just practice before shift to see how things go! And you can always get the mid-calf boots as well!

I've been looking for a pair of thigh highs that are on the shorter side. I'm very very short! Really only five feet tall, and yes I know five feet and tall should not even be in the same sentance describing the same thing. Any yall out there know of a place that might sell some shorter thigh highs? I've looked and, no luck.

Knee-high boots rock and make pole dancing practically effortless. I've tried a few brands and styles, but prefer Pleaser's 5-inch Cha Cha Boots in Black and White Patent leather. I'm only 5'6 and the knee-high boots do not shorten my leg. Most guys don't even notice that I'm wearing boots b/c they're to busy looking at my face, breasts, or butt. So, dress for comfort first your feet will thank you. As far as the thigh-boot goes, there are only a few women at my club that can pull this look off. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The knee-high, 5-inch Cha Cha boots from Pleaser don't zip up you just pull them up. I always buy a size larger b/c your feet sweat and the size of the socks, etc. Go into a store and try them on, Lover's Lane carries a few different styles. The boot stretches really well and it gives me great ankle support.
