How many of you have this done? What was it like when you had it done and how long did it take to heal? Did it get infected? What did you use to clean it?

I've had it done since I was about 14? It didn't hurt at all, only took me about a month and a half to heal, but it doesn't look bad if its not healed. Use dial anti-bacterial soap to clean itMine has never been infected woo hoo
I have one, I had it done two years ago and i LOVE it. It has never been infected. I use sea salt and water to clean it, I still clean it after swimming just to be safe, same with my eyebrow, tragus and helix piercings. None of my piecings have ever hurt. It takes about a month and half for a navel piercing to heal enogh to change it, but about 6 months before you can leave it out for a day or so. Never ever ever use anything like polysporn or mecca(i think thats what its called) on a piercing, it will make your body reject it. Sea salt and water is your best bet.
I don't have mine done,.....afriad of the needle! But going to start dancing and would love to match my belly rings with my outfits...do you think it will improve my money having it done?

i love my belly ring...had it done twice cause i took it out the first time. it hurt but was so worth it. didn't take long to heal, no infections...i would say money wise it might help bring you confidence to match but as long as you work it you'll make money no matter what...it's all in your attitude...but i would def get it if i were you cause i love mine![]()

I got mine done this summer at senior week. It hurt like hell for like five minutes but I was just being a big baby! Mine got infected a few times but it goes away, just keep cleaning it with dial soap. I love my belly button being pierced cuz then I can match my choker necklace with my bracelet with my tongue ring with my belly button ring.Looks hot.

I was pierced with a 10G ring and it took a year to heal. Navels are the slower healing spot. Metal buttons on your pants WILL irritate it. Always turn your ring, keep it clean, and soak it in warm water with sea salt.

There is a huge variation in healing time with bellybuttons...but they actually are a fairly easy piercing to have problems with, despite how common they are, it will totally depend on you. I've had mine done since the end of August, so about 4 months, and it isn't healed yet...It hasn't gotten infected or anything, but they can take a while to get healed. Your piercer will give you instructions on how to care for it, best piece of information I can give you is listen to THEM and not everyone else. Some people will recommend this soap, that cream, anti-bacterial versus regular, only use sea salt, blah blah blah...talk to the piercer, lol! That being said, I use softsoap on mine and H2Ocean saline spray...the H2Ocean has helped a lot with the healing process (since mine is seeming to take a long time), it's basically the same thing as a sea salt soak except more convenient in a travel can.
Anyways, I got off on quite a rant there, all I can say is...you most likely won't be able to change jewelery/be completely healed for quite a while unless you're one of the lucky ones. It doesn't hurt THAT much, and "not healed" doesn't mean painful in anyway...you just have to be careful with it and very diligent with cleaning.
Hope this helps![]()
I asked a lot of different [iercers... they all say keep soap away, it dries it out and only use sea salt and water. Dont use any creams ointments or whatever.
And I honestly cant see a belly ring making a difference in the money you make.
For the first few months I didn't use soap at all, just sea salt and water but I started to have problems with mine...I don't use anti-bacterial soap every day just when I think I need it. So far it hasnt' been too much of a problem but when it does get dry I put fresh (actually right off the plant) aloe on it, again this was all only under the advisement of piercers. I also am an advocate for only using sea salt and water, but mine was pisssssed off <touched it with dirty hands etc> and salt water wasn't cutting it. Now that the quasi-infection (never got there, thank god) is under control...I just use the H2Ocean (salt water)

I've had my belly button pierced for about 5 years. I got it done before I started dancing. It took about a month to heal, but I waited 6 months before I changed my original belly ring for a new belly ring. The guy who pierced my belly button told me to use Bactine on it to clean it, so that's what I used.![]()

I have mine double pierced and have had it for 13 years.

I've had mine pierced for about 5 years. It kept getting infected after I got it pierced, so I switched from the hoop to a barbell and it never got infected again.... I'm sure my piercer wouldn't have liked that because he told me not to change the ring for 3 months, but it worked for me. I got that advice from a friend who had the same thing happen.... but I would say if it gets infected talk to your piercer....
The ring actually can cause a lot of problems(so i've been told by piercers) most prefer to put the barbell in now, thats what I had when I got mine and had no problems, where as people I know with the ring had a lot of infections. The aloe from the plant works wonders for irritated piercings as tiff said. Talk to your piercer, I recomend checking out many different piercers, talk to them about what your getting and make sure they open EVERYTHING in front of you, even wash theri hands before putting on gloves. Any piercer that wont let me watch him do his set up I wont use. Im very fussy about what is poked into my body.
i think i'm the only one who has never had it done.. it scares me too much.. i guess i like the all natural look... no tats either.... not your sterotypical looking dancer i guess...

I vomited after I got mine done (6 yrs ago). I guess it was probably from the adrenaline though.
I think the easiest and most fun piercing I got was my clitorial hood, my husband, who was in the room with me, swears I had an orgasm!![]()

When I got mine done 3 years ago I was shocked at how it didn't hurt at all. Thats just my experience with it. He told me to use polysporin on it and it hasnt been rejected by my body yet....

Hey. I've had my navel done for 4 years, and honestly, I was expecting more pain. I mean, sure, it's uncomfortable but it's sure not like getting punched in the face (aka, getting your nose pierced..OW!) It's not very hard to take care of either, just wash with softsoap or seasalt. Go to bmezine.com for more infor on piercings and experiences. Good luck!

Am I the only one on here that pierced themselves? I did my navel six years ago with a safety pin and i'm alive to tell!! I do not recommend this at all!! It took a LONG time to heal too. I cant wear as wide of a gauge as most, but I have a small silver barbell in mine and i forget its even there most of the time. It's a part of my body and can't imagine not having it!!

I got mine pierced about 16 years ago, when it was not as common as today. It never got infected, but took a while to heal. They say it can take up to 6 months to heal, but for me it wasn't as long.
I don't have mine done but people I know who do have had different experiences. The only one really bad one was a girl I knew who had one infected that would never heal for a year. I think she finally changed to a different type of metal and it healed up. Other than that I've never heard anything bad. I just never really wanted to do mine.

i have had mine done since i was 16 , it wasnt ainfull at all for me .. i have had nearly everything done besides my niple n eyebrow n my nose hurt the most to be honest..
took about a week too heal and back then i use listeren too clean it
I pierced (my ears) myself when I was about 15. It worked the first time, but when I tried it a few years later my ears got infected and now have slight scarring. I do not condone self-piercing, unless you really know what you're doing either. There's too much that can go wrong, and yes it takes forever to heal.Originally Posted by paintgoddess

I don't either now, but with that said, lol. I have had mine done 3 times.Originally Posted by Sirena
The first time I did it myself with a blow dart and it was fine until I got drunk and went swimming in the Mississippi river one night. (don't ask!!!) it got a real bad infection and I has to take it out.
The second time I went and had it done, no pain at all, but the piercer went in too deep, and it never healed right. I has constant infections for 6 months till I went to a different tat shop, and had them check it out. That's when I found out it was too deep to heal right. I took it out that night, and the next morning I popped a quarter size "pimple" on the piercing site full of pus. (Yeah I know really gross)
The third time was about 5 months ago. I have gotten 2 infectionds from this one so far, and one was a really bad one. Strangly enough though, the infections were between the skin and the piercing (in the fat cells). I has been sick about a week before the infections both times, and that's where the rest of the pus manifested. I just lanced the skin above on top of the piercing, and they healed right up with no probs.
If you do have infections regularly with the piercing, try going from a hoop to a barbell, or go from steel to either gold or titanium. Either one of those metals have less nickel than steel. And some people have a big allregy to nickel which is some of the reason for migrating piercings, and piercing that constatly stay infected.
hey chicas
