    Default Texas in the Winter

    Hi there!

I'll be in Texas during late December/early January, visiting some friends and family. I currently work at a gown club in Chicago, where I average $800-$1200/night.

My question is, is it possible to make the same sort of money at an upscale club in Dallas during the early part of the new year?

Because in Chicago, it's not-- I usually leave with anywhere from $300-$500 the first six weeks of the year; I've left with as little as $100 on the first Saturday in January.

I'm also curious about any costuming rules unique to Dallas clubs: g-strings, tangas, t-backs? Closed-toe shoes, or is there a certain heel height that clubs prefer/have rules against?

Any feedback is definitely appreciated! Thanks!

I seriously doubt that kind of money is possible consistently in Dallas, but you could probably do pretty well there; I find that Texas isn't as slow in the winter as the North (summer is the slow season down there). I'm also pretty damn positive contact there is quite a bit more than what it is in Chicago.

Also, BV, nice ref to BJM on your blog. You are a smart stripper .

Thanks so much for the reply! I've worked in Vegas, so I'm not *that* faint-hearted about contact, but I also can't do the wild stuff. I thought if I stayed at one of the gown clubs, I'd be all right.

BJM? The band? I searched the recent entries and couldn't find a reference to them... but I think they're amazing.

And, hey-- thanks for the compliment!

I think it was a while back that you referenced them and the difficulty of getting one of their albums out. I was really, really amused last week with a Gilmore Girls episode that had a note-perfect tribute to Dig!, including a cameo by Joel Gion.

Well, I don't think there are any "gown" clubs in Dallas, per se, but the Men's Club, Cabaret Royale, and the Lodge are pretty upscale, nice clubs. I will be in Austin around Christmas and expect the money to be decent. Unlike Northern states, the weather doesn't factor in to club attendance in the winter, which helps.
