I believe that only Prozac and some others make you loose your apetite - but not to that extent.
There may be a lot of different causes.
Go and see a doctor. FAST!!
7 lbs in 4 days is a lot. Eat some sugary fuit juice just to get you to the doctor.
    GO!

(after the present crisis is over, you have to check out your life. Don't make an habit out of antidepressants)

When I lost mine I got it back when I quit drinking anything that contained caffeine. Since caffeine supresses appetite. I gradually started to eat again.

I was put on Zoloft for depression, and it totally killed my appetite. My doctor ended up switching my meds because I lost almost 20 pounds in 3 months... and I was 5'4 and 115 to begin with!! Before the Zoloft I had been on Paxil, which made me lose weight also, but not as extreme... for the last month I've been on Lexapro (not sure of the spelling). This is very similar to Zoloft, without some of the side effects. My weight seems to be doing ok now. I've gained back about 10lbs since I got off the Zoloft, and now I'm at a weight I'm happy with.....

Just talk to your doctor. If what you're on now is causing side effects you don't want to deal with, there are other things that will work just as well but without the side effects. It took me about 4 different medications to finally find one that is working and doesn't have horrible side effects... it takes time. Everyone's body is different and some medications work really well for some people while are horrible for others.... you just have to have enough patience to try different things like I did.

Thats the one I'm on now and it seems to be working for me, but like I said, everyone is different.... A medication that I really liked was Wellbutrin... I didn't have any bad side effects, but it wasn't as effective on my depression, even after we raised my dosage a few times. It helped a little, but not quite enough....

Oh yeah thats a good point. When I was losing so much weight, I lost my appetite, and even smelling food would make me nauseous. So instead of forcing myself to eat, I would drink an Ensure or some other kind of protein drink. Those things have tons of calories. They didn't prevent me from losing weight, but they helped keep my energy up.

    Kamrin,
you said your sick, you could have the latest flue...My grandparents each lost 20#'s from it...It's horrible, if you are naucious, don't make yourself eat, that will prolong it. Get some gaterade or pedialite to keep your electrolites up, take a super hot bath to help your body burn the germs out, and keep rapped in your blanky.
Flues take out the healthy harder, and tend to linger because our bodys do such a good job fighting it, it's hard to get that immunity that is needed to fight it.(thats how flues work, once you get a particular strain, you have it till your immune, then you never get that strain again unless it morphs into something slightly different)
    Good luck kicken it (((kamrin)))

Has anything really traumatic happened in your life lately? Stress and traumatic events can be a cause of this too.

That could be a cute pic, were you not ill.

Pay attention to the signs your body gives you.
If you're feeling real bad, I would insist it's better to see a doc.
Noone here appears to be a qualified physician and we're only guessing.

    Get healthy, yes?

I have lots of problems with appetite as well, it really bites. I've taken anti-depressants before and they make the problem even worse. Definitely tell your doctor about this, he needs to be aware that you have having this symptom as a side effect to better adjust your treatment plan.

In the mean time, I strongly second the suggestion for meal replacement shakes such as Ensure or Boost. They are well balanced for nutrition and can sustain you for a while if you drink enough of them.

When my appetite goes, I can't eat any solid food so these are a godsend for me. I'll have a minimum of 4 in a day, usually 6. They have higher calorie versions but I didn't like them, I prefer having more cans of the regular kind. I suggest drinking them cold (taste much better) and you can dilute them with some milk or crushed ice if you find them too sweet.

At least with these supplements, you'll avoid drastic weight loss and especially weak/dizzy spells.

    Good luck and take care,
    Pixie

try at least to take sips of juice (not the light kind) or broth, and maybe a cracker or too. if you're literally not eating, you could go into shock. also, talk to your doctor right away!

Hey KamrynAnne, that's exactly what I'm doing--wrapped up in my favorite quilt mom made for me with the laptop. I need to find a job that pays me to do this.

Thinking of the quilt, maybe the reason you don't want to get up is because of how cold it is out. I don't even want to go anywhere unless I absolutely have to because it's so freaking cold. I noticed I've had the winter blues--not even opening the shades. It's kind of like a rainy day that will last for several months. Actually, rainy days are better, at least you can enjoy the fresh air it brings.

Another thing is, maybe the meds. I think antidepressants are great when they are used as a treatment only. Some women take them through the winter months, because it's depressing for a lot of people with the lack of sunlight and staying indoors more often. But a lot of people continue to take them for several months or years. You may be at the point that your meds are making you "too" carefree. In some cases, they can just give you the attitude that nothing matters--not in a depressing way, but a kind of non-emotional state. Maybe they're making you feel like it doesn't matter whether you eat or not. A good reason why you're not hungry.

As everyone suggested, it's best that you go see your doctor. Your health is nothing to gamble with. Maybe you can even start weaning off them in the spring and see if you feel better without them.
