    DV8 in Portland, any improvements?

    Hi girls,

I'm new to SW and it has been so helpful to read the posts as I look for where to start my stripping career. I will be 21 in about a month so I'm researching local clubs.

I was considering DV8 because it is a newer club and in a good location for me (far enough away from home without being too far) but I haven't seen the best of reviews.

So I was wondering... have things gotten better there? Could I expect to make 200-300 in a shift after tipout? Would a dayshift be suicide? etc etc.

If you know of any other clubs in SE that might work, please let me know.

    xo

    Ugh... nevermind.

I went there tonight and I was so nervous I almost didnt go in.

It was a rock and roll joint with 2 dancers (Wed night) and really dead. I still spoke to their manager on the phone and he seemed nice. I don't know if it would be the right place for me. The atmosphere just didn't seem very nice. I'm not ruling it out but I think I'm starting to understand that you really have to go to the places to get a feel for them and how they would work for you.

Eeep I was so nervous though! I wonder if that was normal. It wasn't like I was going to audition that night or stay very long, I was almost afraid to even go in.

On the other hand, everyone seemed to turn and look, maybe they thought I was a dancer. That is good news, maybe I could make a lot of $$$.

The manager was really unspecific about earnings though, he said anything from 100-1000 depending on your looks/ per night. That seems way too broad for pdx.

I dont know what clubs in Portland are like(Im in Toronto) but you really cant tell what kind of money there is in any club. It depends on your looks, your moves, your personality, your hustle, the type of customer thats in there that night etc.. If you can hustle and have decent customers you can bank. If you can hustle and there is no one willing to spend that night, there will be nothing, if you cant hustle well it just isnt going ot happen, you need to be at a 'wanna dance?' club.
You did the right thing though but checking the club out before auditioning. Go with your gut about the clubs you check out. If your gut feeling says 'dive' stay away. If you think its a nice club, but might be too good for starting out, your probably right. Starting out its always good to be in a smallish clean club that doesnt have a lot of girls. But make sure its clean. I made the mistake of starting in a large over packed club with dancers that look like pros, talk about feeling stupid, lol. I made a switch im at a smaller classy club now and feel right at home and am hopefully going back to my old club. Your biggest thing is making sure you feel comfortable where you are. Good luck! If I recall there are a few portland girls here who can give you advice about the area.

Well keep in mind that MANY of the clubs in Portland don't look super nice or fancy, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the money is bad. In my opinion and experience it's better, as a new dancer, to start out at one of the smaller clubs with just 2-3 dancers. The atmosphere at most of the big clubs can be pretty cutthroat, you have to be aggressive to make money because you're competing with 6-15 other dancers who probably have a lot more experience than you, and I think it makes more sense to start out in a more "gentle" environment where you can get your feet wet and learn your own hustling style.

Anyway, I don't know anything about DV8, but there are plenty of other clubs in that general area that you could also check out. Get a copy of Exotic magazine, it has a map with all the clubs listed.

Both Sassy's and DV8 go through Rockstar Promotions, so once you audition for them they'll schedule you at a variety of different clubs. I've heard some bad things about the guy who does Rockstar (mostly just that he's an asshole), so be wary. But I've heard that the money is pretty good at Sassy's.
