    Default What's the Matter w/Police??

I am a news junkie and I cannot believe I heard this today...

"A man arrested for selling a subway token to a man who couldn't get one out of a broken machine for face value..."

This is probably the reason it took the police 45 minutes to come to me when I reported my car stolen (not that it happened in Atlanta, or today)... I have been to Atlanta (it's a great city) and I have a hard time believing that this was the most pressing crime going on at that moment...

Grrrrrrr!!!!! Although I am sooooo thrilled that in regards to public safety, a police officer would put handcuffs on this heinous criminal...

    The Madness!!!!!

    Your tax dollars at work.

Oddly enough, I was on the phone with a friend of mine who is a cop here in Vegas and I just told him about your post Bella. His exact response to it was, "I don't know who is the bigger retard...the transit cop for issuing the citation or his boss who is defending it."

``There are customer service phones for people who are having trouble getting tokens out of the machine,'' Baker said. ``The fact is, our officer acted within the law.''

Look. The US is becoming more and more a fascist country. The evidence is in the newspapers all the time. Both the parties are at fault for it to as they try to use law and government to solve all problems. One cannot do that without becoming a fascist country.

Strangely enough, when I clicked that link, there was another story in the margin, "Police Officer Shot in Chest in NYC".

Then it made sense why they handcuffed this guy. People who sell subway tokens generally don't shoot back.

``What you've got to keep in mind is that fare abuse is a chronic problem,'' Baker said. ``It costs MARTA millions of dollars every year.''

Well then FIX THE DAMNED TOKEN MACHINES.

``There are customer service phones for people who are having trouble getting tokens out of the machine,'' Baker said. ``The fact is, our officer acted within the law.''

"Uhh, gee boss, sorry I'm late for work, but the token machine for the subway was broke and I had to call the customer service line and I had to wait 45 minutes for a repair technician. Someone offered to sell me an extra token, but aparently that illegal. Uhh, I'm fired?"

``Our officers do that for their own safety,'' Baker said.

Yeah, they should have tasered and beat this miscreant too. God knows he might have started feeding parking meters next.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution editorial on MARTA from last month. This just makes this token selling incident THAT much more absurd.

I bet this cop went to skool for a whole 4 years too, before he got his job. Probably one of those die hard bible beating "the law is the law" freaks.

There was a law against being stupid - it was called The Natural Order of Things and it helped mold our brains into the thinking tools they have become today.

    In short, the dumb died.

Civilization has interrupted nature's course in many many ways - and the elimination of idiots has been largely halted.

The really strange thing about all of this is City of Atlanta cops are usually a LOT more laid back. Atlanta cops are usually the type that don't even bother with small stuff because they don't want to have to even write up the report for some dumb shit. They usually don't put up with any bullshit though. I usually like city of Atlanta cops for that reason. I don't know why the cop in this story was such a dickhead. I mean, really. That's retarded.

Aren't transit cops different from 'real' cops? I thought they were just a little bit higher up the chain than mall security...

    LOL yah right!

TTC Officers have handcuffs and can arrest you!!

Once I got caught using a fake ticket when I was a kid. I just started bawling and they let me go though.

We used to buy 10 fake student tickets for $2.

But at that time I really coldn't afford the real ticket and I think that's why getting caught made me so upset. I musta looked pretty pathetic in my uniform bawling and whatnot.
