    Wasting money on stripper clothes

    Ok... who can identify?

I just went through my tubs of stripper clothes to consilidate... One tub for tops, one for bottoms...

I realized I have wasted SO MUCH MONEY on outfits that dont work for me!! I'm getting better at choosing clothes, but... yeah i'm a newbie at it. i admit it. Guilty of purchasing the following...

-the thongs from department stores that you think look like something a stripper would wear. You buy 4 because they are 4 for 10. You never wear them. Stripper thongs and regular thongs ARE different!!
-the top or bottoms that was supposed to be the start of a great themed outfit. You never found anything else to complete the look. There it hangs at the back of the closet.
-the gown from the $10 rack. After a dry run with the thing, you know why it was rejected by every other seasoned stripper. It wont come down over your hips or up over your shoulders in less than one song. It actually hurts.
-the outfit that almost worked, so you took scissors to it to "fix" it and cut too far. But you dont want to throw it away. you'll find a use for it.
-the booty shorts that look like granny panties and never quite do it for you
    - the scarf that was going to be a perfect wrap. no matter how you tie it, it looks like... a scarf. bleh.
-the corset you'll never wear again until you can replace the hook and eyes with a zipper. you forget to pick up the zipper every time you go to walmart.
-the shoes that make you bleed
-the stockings that squeeze your thighs in the wrong place. you wonder if anyone will notice that your thighs are now separated into sausage links. you leave them at home every time.
-the mask that was supposed to be part of a dominatrix theme. instead, you look like a super-hero reject.
-the top/bottoms/thong that you bought on ebay that somebody made. it was never sewn correctly and always pulls to one side. it looked great in the picture. they said it was a "money maker".
-the booty shorts that give you a painful camel-toe--much too painful for dancing

Tell me i'm not alone. Tell me i'm not the only one who periodically (ok... regularly) wastes money on dance clothes that dont make the cut.

LOL !! That's funny. I can be guilty of some of those things like buying regular thongs, booty shorts that looks like granny panties.

I have the exact opposite theory on buying work clothes.I only buy items that work for me.I never by anything on impulse. It's money you work hard for.

I'm guilty of the ebay purchases. This one person advertised a green bikini top that would fit an A-D cup. I should have been weary of that b/c what bikini top looks good on A-D? Well, I got it, and the thing is made for a freakin' DD. I, unfortunately, am an A/B... very not sexy.

Or this other outfit pictured as pink and black, so I bought a pink and black g-string to match. Well, when it came in the mail (like 5 weeks later too), it was pink with a floral trim. I was pissed.

That was so funny! I usuallyavoid this by only buying clothes that I can try on at my local dancewear store. Still, I have some stuff thst doesn't look as good onstage as it did in the fitting room.

Im guilty of the thongs so far... and 'the perfect skirt for this outfit' that doesnt work out.. 'this top will look great with this... umm i'll find something'. And i've only been dancing two months lol. Im horrible. Im really good friends with the costume guy at my work so i get decent discounts but I just cant stop buying stuff

Oh im guilty of having spent too much on crap i'll never really wear.

But thongs in dept stores I never did.

And no masks for this superwoman lol

However, I have a ton of dresses that dont fit anymore., another half that itch for some ungodly reason...

then there are the booty short sets that either are too big or too small now. Either way they piss me off even trying them on.

But you know what really pisses me off....

All the great dresses and out fits I recall having at one point and making a ton of money in..to no longer know where they are! what the hell

it's like socks..you know how one always comes up missing..im starting to think dancer clothes are the same fucking way.

Never did the ebay thing. If I can't touch it or really know the quality i dont dare buy it. I've learned my lesson in this decade of dancing.

I have a GORGEOUS pink & black corset-type bustier with a matching G-string. I bought it on eBay. I have black fishnet thigh-highs and arm warmers to go with it and it looks friggin' awesome. The problem? It has garters (can't remove the G-string when they're fastened) and it fastens up the back with a zillion little hooks so there's no way on Earth I can take it off onstage. And I can't take it to a bikini bar because the G-string isn't "legal." So there it sits...

YEF......... you need to find some g strings that hook on the sides. That way you can take it off without pulling it down. You usually have to get the ones that look half decent from a costume maker but sometimes you can find them online or in a store.

I have a corset thingy and had the smae problem.

Also, maybe you could find some cute little panites that cover your ass but are low rise and kind of blousy and loose but gathered around the leg openings a la "Moulin Rouge".

    Could be really cute!

Tart, I know what you mean by disapearing dancing stuff. My favourite dress, where did it go? Also my best thong that matched three of my outfits and looked fab on stage...

I also lost my favourite pair of jeans recently...how do I lose this stuff? The dress mighta be stolen at work, but I don't really think so. I hate that it had to be that one missing though! I almost want to buy the exact same dress and thong again.

Put your thong on over the garter straps. It won't really show.

I only buy things I know will work, or if I buy things online I'll buy a bunch of cheap stuff on sale and sell what doesn't work for me to get my money back.

Yes, I feel like I have wasted money on clothes because we are no longer allowed to wear booty shorts, see-through clothing, dresses that don't cover our asses completely or anything that opens in the front and shows our thong, like robes. I use to love wearing robes because they are so easy on and off but the new rule is it has to be an evening gown or short classy dress. Housemom even wants to cut out short dresses. So, there goes half of my wardrobe.

Yeah I bought this really cute corset, and it is just annoying to get off. Ebay purchases also guilty, I bought this oriental print dress and it was way to big, and wasn't sexy on. I also bought onw of those slingshot thongs that is sooooo uncomfortable, I can totally empathize

I'm guilty of the "corset" and "thigh highs"

I've had eye-and-hooks break and I still love the corset, I just never get around to fixing it. I also have pulled off the "sausage thigh" on lingerie night with fishnet thigh highs.

And yes, my favorite outfits always disappear. The magic pole goblins steal them. Although, I am fairly sure that I may have dropped them on the way to the car (my bags are often overstuffed because I want to fit 'everything' in my locker!).

in the begining i found that i was wasting alot of money on dancers wear, most of it was unflatering, to big, not matching etc. Waste of money YES especially when you can not get use out of it, and no one wants it.

If you would like to, i can email you some photos of the clothes i sell for dancers i have about 50 different lines, and it is all hand made ensuring a great fit for all sizes. I can also custom make dresses etc Everything is double stitched and will last you forever, and the designs are soo hot. (i love them especially when i danced in them, they always made me more money)

Another question is - Do you find this with jewelery and make up too?

Okay....get a g'string that ties on the sides, don't fasten the garters, or cut them off all together. As for the hook issue....hook the top two the bottom two and the middle two and you should be just fine! Don't let that go to waste hun! You just have to improvise and maybe buy a new g-string or two!

I recomend organizing an exotic dancer swap meet. I'm sure one girl's waste of closet space is another girl's money-maker. I personally love ebay, so let me know if you have any outfits for auction.

I am guilty of the booty shorts. Got a few pair that looked great, so I went on a binge. The ones ordered online never seemed to look sexy. Also, got a couple of pairs of expensive shoes that HURT. I wear a 5, so if I find it to fit sometimes I buy first and think later. I also buy way too many frilly garters, don't know why since they really don't look very good on me (I'm short and have big legs.)

Oh, the missing clothes thing isn't so much the problem with me, but a friend of mine used to borrow my clothes without asking and stretch everything out. She looked about the same size as me, but she was 5"9 and I am 4"11, so she was actually much bigger than me. I lost my favorite 2 black gowns this way, both really EXPENSIVE and from Fredrick's.

We're all guilty of buying somthing because we thought it would look great, or it almost looks good, or the material was so beautiful you thought that you could make it work....

Well, after being sick and tired of constantly having to alter almost everything that I paid for I started making my own clothing... Designing was a nightmare at first but now I'm making clothes for every club in town!

Please, if there's something you want... let me know... I promise you wont be dissapointed, and I offer a full refund, w/ in 1 week... (no wear and tear then send it back unsuable!)

I've done the four for ten thongs before, or even Rue21 sells great panties for a buck. I just get them in a size large and look out for the ones that are made out of more stretchy materials.

Edit: I never buy full priced dance clothes. I'm just too cheap. But there have been bad buys from clearance places in vegas where you can't try stuff on. The worst thing I ever bought? A hot pink halter top with matching spandex pants with an slit running up the front to the knees with this flamenco type ruffle. I looked like I was applying to be a pro wrestler. It was BAD

Can someone fill me in on the thong thing. Whats the difference between buying them from a regular lingerie store like la senza and buying from a dancer store?
