    Default Sonya Thomas

She's the #2 competitive eating champion of the world. She has put away 32 Nathan's hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes, 9.76 pounds of lobster meat (38 soft-shell lobsters) in 12 minutes, 52 hard-boiled eggs in five minutes, 46 dozen (552) oysters in 10 minutes... and that's just a few of her accomplishments.

And the bitch is 5'5" and weighs 99 pounds. She's 37 years old.

She says the only time she threw up (involuntarily) was when she devoured 11 pounds of cheesecake, with coffee, in nine minutes. I'm not so sure I buy it. This chick has got to be bulemic.

I think I've seen her on TV before. Good grief, though, how does she manage to eat all that?!?!

I heard of her last year sometime. There has to be something going on there. How is her stomach not disproportionately large?

Never thought of that but I guess you're right. This will crack you up though- my dad is IN DISBELIEF of bulimia because he grew up in a Third World country & he can't imagine why anyone would throw up perfectly good food. (He was the little kid you parents were talking about when they said, "Eat your dinner, you know, some kids don't even get to eat!")

It has to do with your stomach size in proportion to your body. For years, Americans held the world records for eating contests until not that long ago, a Japanese NUTRITIONIST of all things, beat the daylights out of us. The previous world record was held by an American which was 22 until 1997 when the Japanese started to crush us in the competition. Since then, our best showing has not even come close to their WORST showing. In 1997, the record was set at 44 hot dogs and in 2004 it was set at 53. The winner since 2000 is Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi from Japan. The strategy is based on the fact that for years, really big, fat guys would compete and win thinking bigger eaters=bigger stomachs. NOT TRUE! A Japanese nutritionist realized that smaller, thinner people have not the fat layers around their stomach muscles that fat/obese people do. As a result, their stomachs have more stretching room and can hold more. It was this realization that led to the massive Japanese record holdings since the late 90's.

Still can't be healthy for your digestive system. All that wear and tear, making your heart work so damn hard, I would guess that just speeds up the whole process for a heart attack!

There's this event in Philly every year for the past couple years called Wingbowl. I saw her eat and eat and eat! Damn that was a feat to see.
