Lightbulb Change People's View on Stripping

Hi, I'm a female college student and am doing a paper on the sex industry. Recently I have come into contact with the world of stripping and it truly has interested me. I want to try and dispell people's sterotypes of dancers and dancing and finally find out what that people, specifically the women, in the industry have to say about what the do. If anyone is interested in answering some questions or if you just want to dispell some rumors please let me know and I would be happy to listen. I do not mean to pry or pester anyone, I just want to learn more. Thanks so much.

Hey...I'm not a dancer yet, so I can't answer your questions, but I just wanted to let you know that if you search the forums a bit, you should be able to find some threads that address how dancers feel about what they do.

Also, there have been a lot of these request-for-information-for-research-paper posts lately...you'll get a better response if you give a little more information about yourself and your project.

Maybe it's just fun to be able to type "naked" into a school paper.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Keep the stereotypes. Let people have their misconceptions. If they knew how great it was, everyone would do it, and there's enough competition as it is.

I think Im gonna write a paper on people who do papers on the sex industry.

To the 1st poster nothing bad to ya weve been getting like 2-3 every week here and its all the same question "Im doing a paper on strippers....sex industry..hookers etc" wtvr.

If you think about it really hard there are plenty more topics other than the ever controversial STRIPPERS. Im sure if 20 people or more have come here over the years then Im sure the professor your are submitting yours to has read them too. Be original, original topics stand out always. If you want to talk about sex then why not transgender teens, transgender people then and now, or even gay acceptance (not just marriage). Cmon theres more to a 10 page paper than 'the sex industry'.

    LOL!!!

Edit: Assuming at least some of the people asking for information actually want it to do papers...it doesn't seem like posts from psuedonyms on a message board would make very good source information. I don't think many professors would be too impressed by a paper based on what anonymous poster "StripperXYZ" says about the sex industry...and if you think your professor would find that acceptable, hell, just make some accounts on a message board and post in-depth, hypothesis-supporting answers to your own questions .

Hi, I'm a male college prof in Math and Physics and am assigning a paper on the sex industry. What this has to do with Math and Physics I have no idea, but work with me here, okay?

Recently I have come into contact with the world of stripping and it truly has interested me. I know, you're saying to yourself "Naked women interest an old guy like that? I am shocked".

I want to try and dispell people's sterotypes of dancers and dancing and finally find out what that people, specifically the women, in the industry have to say about what the do. If anyone is interested in answering some questions or if you just want to dispell some rumors please let me know and I would be happy to listen. If you wish to provide pictures or videos, I won't object.

If you are taking any of this post seriously, I suggest counseling and perhaps a half-dozen or so Tequila Slammers.

Hahaha! That was great. I'm already imagining what the survey questions would look like . . .

So how old were you when you realized you wanted to write a paper about the sex industry?

How does writing a paper about the sex industry make you feel about yourself?

I am doing a paper on the sex industry and what I can tell you is, at least at my school, it has not been done. I am motivated to do this paper because my professor has voiced her views on the "evils" of the sex industry and want to give her some actual evidence and testimony that it is not what she says it is. I am tired of hearing people like her bash the people I know for doing what they want and using what they have and I would like to give her an educated rebuttle. Why do I not just ask the people I know then, I'll get to that. To all who think this is a last minute attempt, it is not, I really want a broad base for my study, and what better way than to utilize the WORLD wide web? Now let me give a little more background about the paper. It is for anthropology class and it is called an ethnography. It is concerned with uncovering patterns across cultures. That is why I cannot just ask people I know, it has to be a broader study. The thing about an ethnography is that it is based on the people you study. One poster suggested that online posts would not be legitimate, but they are. Those posts come from the people that are the basis of the study, and they are all that matters. As I said in my first post, if you don't want to give information don't, but please don't knock someone who is only trying to educate herself and in the process wants to tell her professor that she can shove her rhetoric.

Maybe not this year. But you can rest assured, it HAS been done at your school.

You kids aren't gonna change any minds in any meaningful way with your papers. The professors you're trying to convince that sex industry isn't all evil, well, are not convincable (is that a word?). They will simply roll their eyes as they grudgingly read your papers for grading.

I think something more original with current events would be more interesting and impressive to the profs who are grading you. Don't you all know they get tired of reading papers from students who 1) haven't ever worked in the sex industry and 2) think they're gonna actually convince people who think it's evil that it's not?

And, what is this? Post #237 this month on this same topic?
