Thumbs down Need to sue brothel-how?

Hello I worked at a Legal Brothel in Nevada & they broke the contract they made with me, by laying me off 2 weeks into a legally binding 3 week contract. The excuse they used was they over-booked the house & needed to let the 2 lowest-earning women go home early, one of which was me. If I had needed to break my contract & go home early on my own, the fine would have been $1,500. They deprived me of an estimated $500- $1,500 in earnings AT LEAST. I was not in the wrong in any sense. They offered to re-book me but I declined.
I am having a hard time finding an attorney to sue them for my lost wages since I don't live in Nevada, & many of the ones listed on the Internet do not appear to take cases such as mine. I also think the amount of money in dispute would put me in small claims court.
I have not spoken to the brothel since....I am not sure what to say & do not want to endanger my case. I AM asking here because I thought someone might be able to help & the people here seem very nice.
My words of advice to the women here- do not waste your time with Nevada brothels. I saw a thread on here about a girl who did well because she had appointments set up for when she arrived there. If you have no such set-up & just show up like I did, it is hard going. I am very hurt & angry. But lesson learned.

Given that you were working at a legal brothel, contracts between yourself and the brothel for engaging your services ARE legal and enforceable. However, there would need to be a bunch of additional information before any attorney would attempt to bring suit on your behalf. #1 are there any provisions in the contract which allow the brothel discretion in unilaterally terminating contracts i.e. failure of the contracted person to perform at minimum expected levels of income generation for the 'house' ? #2 how much 'damage' did you actually sustain i.e. the 'house' can make the case that you may have actually earned very little money if allowed to stay an additional two weeks ?

In reality, bringing a lawsuit against the 'house' is a risky piece of business in any case, because any judge is going to want as little to do with such a case as is humanly possible. From a pragmatic standpoint, the brothel is a local business while you aren't even a Nevada taxpayer. Additionally, from a pragmatic standpoint retaining an attorney and having to return to Nevada to appear in court are both going to cost money out of your own pocket. There's also the issue of 'lost income' i.e. you can't be earning money working somewhere else while you're travelling to and appearing in a Nevada courtroom.

My gut feeling here is that however satisfying a 'phyrric victory' in a Nevada court might be, that it simply won't be worth the cost to you in time and money to pursue it. And as someone who has been involved in past court proceedings as an out of state 'stripper' versus a local 'business owner', the chances of success in court are far from certain. This is even more the likely case since the 'house' did offer to rebook you for a future date, which would mitigate 'damages' - plus the fact that you presumeably worked somewhere else during the cancelled two weeks of contract period, which would reduce 'damages' perhaps to the point of no net damage at all.

    1. could be an open and shut case...talk to a reputable lawyer (check em out first)...but their offer to rebook you (esp if it comes with a guaranteed nightly take) could be a mitigating factor. talk to lawyer. or sue in small claims if you're only out a couple grand.

I can completely understand how you are pissed off at the brother however I think your energy is best spent setting yourself up as an independent escort in your own state. If you're talking a sum less than $1500, you'll probably make that back in less than a week. My personal opinion: If you're going to take legal action, do so because of your principal, not for money. You can see if a lawyer can write you a letter for less than $300. If you have to spend more on it, I would say just move on.
