Driver pulled from burning car wreck
TOMS RIVER: Three passers-by pulled a man from his burning car on the Garden State Parkway after it had crashed into a concrete barrier early Thursday morning, according to one of the rescuers.
State Police said the unidentified male driver slammed into a concrete median while traveling south near Exit 82 about 2:30 a.m. He was later treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Sabrina Nesci, who was on her way home from work, saw the burning wreck and pulled over. Nesci and two other men dragged the crash victim, who was bleeding from the head and mouth, to safety, she said.
"I noticed that his car was on fire. The flames got higher and higher and we got worried that it was going to blow up,'' said Nesci, 34.
Nesci and the other two good Samaritans dodged speeding traffic to lead the man to the side of the parkway to wait for emergency medical crews to arrive.
"It wasn't easy. I'm only 4 (feet) 11 (inches),'' said Nesci, who is an exotic dancer at Delilah's Den in Toms River. "Maybe this will give us (dancers) a good name.''
Despite flames leaping from the wrecked car, Nesci said no other passing motorists stopped to help.
The driver was treated for injuries at Community Medical Center in Toms River, police said.
