    Angry My song!

Wow last night I was ready to flip at this girl...
My first stage show I used Shinedown 45 as my last song... i've been using this song since I started dancing pretty much and I always get lots of stage tips from it(im back at the club that does stage tipping). Anyway I come off stage get dressed again and im going to the bathroom. This girl follows me in and goes 'just so you know 45 is MY song it always has been and you should know that seeing as you've been here long enough'. Im like 'uh i've never heard you dance to it' and she keeps going on about how she always dances to it and I should know better then she walks away. The way she said it I was going to snap. So I go up for my second stage show and shes coming off stage she gives me the 'you better remember look'. The DJ asked me what that was for, I told him and he laughed and said hes never played that song for her before. So what the hell! She was giving me attitude and looks all damn night, everytime I went to VIP she would snarl at me and my customers kind of got weird about it.
Since when do girls 'own' songs! I always hear girls dance to the same songs as other girls. I mean I can see if its a song thats original and not known by many people but something as popular as 45... I dont think so. Bleh im done my rant...

You know, I can see her point in a way. There are songs that I identify with so strongly that I just couldn't imagine it meaning as much to someone else. It's part of our show and therefore, a little part of ourselves.

But to get bitchy over it? No fucking way. She'll get over it. We all have a soundtrack for our lives and the fun part is, you can switch tracks, use another song, and have the same feeling.

Screw her and her uppity attitude.

I agree Dylan... but the thing is... no one has ever heard her dance to it even the DJ said he has never played the song for her. I wouldnt be as upset if I have heard her dance to it or someone else has. But the fact no one has heard her dance to it and shes going on the way she is... I just dont get it.

Don't bother trying to analyze it. It's very clear that she sees something in you when you dance to it....you obviously feel it and it shows. That feeling makes the guys tip you more because you ooze sexuality and confidence when he plays it.

She's just trying to steal your thunder, hon. Take her BS as a compliment because she noticed and she let it get to her.

Keep rocking YOUR song baby girl.

Hillarious! I don't get some girls sometimes...I've encountered situations like this,my response "get over it" - I remember in Vancouver one time this girl was tripping out because another girl on the line up had braids and EVERYONE knew she was the only one on the circuit with braids...I didn't know whether to laugh at her childish "tantrum" or to tell her to get a life!!!

I admit, I have songs I'm attached to. If the DJ plays Tito & Tarantula's "After Dark" for someone else, I always go into a cold sweat for a second, wondering if I'm supposed to be on stage. But giving a girl grief for it? Please. She probably saw you making money with this song and thought if she "stole" it it would work for her too. What a goober.

LoL Nah I never dance to the same song twice in a night... unless im doing a 12 hour shift(like yesterday) and do like 5 stage shows... I was tempted to but the way she was going on I was scared id lose my neck lol. The funny thing is... shes one of those 45 y/o strippers whos been doing it since she was like 16... and you can see it in her face lol. Im tempted to do it again when I get back from holidays just to tick her off
I have to admit I get upset for a second if I see someone else do something I know only I do(like steal custys hats off their head when standing around the stage and wear it for part of my show) but I dont freak on the girl, I get over it. People are going to dance to the same song, people are going to do the same thing. Its part of life now get over it *grumble*

lol, that's the song I'm protective over too! Let's not work together, m'kay?

For obscure songs, I defer to the first person I heard play it, and don't use it as my own when I'm working with them. But that's not even necessary...it's just drama avoidance.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's yours now

My grandmother has the best way of dealing with people like that. She just lets them rant until they stop, then she smiles and says nicely, "Honey, if that's the worst of your problems, you're doing great. Smile and count your blessings!" It always shuts people right up because they realize they're acting like an ass.

It sounds like she is psycho. Just aviod her, and ignore anything she says/does.

If she is so busy hating on you, she won't have time to go make money, so you just keep pugging right along making money, and she'll either get over it or she will blow her top and get fired. Either way, you come out on top.

I can understand your point of view....but .. really that song is "no ones" song and anyone is free to dance to it as long as it has not been played in the last hour or two hours, what ever the dj''s rules are about that. It's not worth fighting over a song......lol
Find another song to dance to.... if someone else has already danced to it. You girls should not be fighting like this it really is petty.Maybe take turns dancing to it if it really that big a deal.Instead of being hateful to each other that's not going to solve anything but make enemys and im sure you don't want that right?????
The Dj could be telling her the same thing about you..so i wouldn't take his comment as the solid truth. After all he is working for that tip too.......If i were you id find another song there's tons of other good songs out there and you both really need to be more mature and professional about this ...it's just silly.

Angel im not freaking about it.. I honestly dont care. What is getting me is how imature shes being about it. Im not going to stop using a song I make money to and love just because she thinks she owns it. And its not only the DJ saying he hasnt heard her dance to it, its everyone in the club saying they have never heard her dance to it. Meh its over with, im not going to fret, I found it kind of funny.

Jealous girl sees you making money. Probably more money than her. Jealous girl sees you getting alot of tips when you play a certain song. Again, probably more money than her. Jealous girl can't stand it and wants to fuck with you. Jealous girl can't think of any better way to attack you than to accuse you of playing 'her' song. Very simple and she obviously got to you, which is what she wanted.

Just ignore the little cunt. For fun, I might even tip the DJ to NOT play that song for her, and to screw with her music instead.

No one "owns" a song. Period. If you feel like dancing to it, and it is appropriate for the time of night/day, and the d.j. says okay, then it's all yours. So get your butt on stage and shake that ass!!

I have had one occasion where a DJ said he couldn't play a song for me because he always plys it for another girl. So I smiled sweetly and said, "That's fine dear, I hope she makes up for the tip you just lost from me." Funny though, a week later, same DJ, same song: he had no problem playing it for me.
