    Default endometreosis

i was in the tampon thread looking at some alternative type menstral products and on one site there was a link to endometriosis info. id heard of it but didnt know what it was, so i checked it out. i seem to have alot of the symptoms of it.

    very
painful period, very heavy bleeding, i go through spells where i feel like i have to pee alot and it hurts a little but tests for uti, and stds are always negative,my stomach gets all crazy when i get my period, and somtimes sex is painful.(not so bad that i cant have it but some days im very sensitive)

does any one hear have/know about it. it said the only way to diagnose it for sure was by surgery, but some of the treatment options call for diet changes and i could easily do this without sugery. online it said alot of people have it so i thought someone hear might know somthing about it.

I really hope that endometriosis is not something that you have. I wouldn't wish it on ANYONE! I've been diagnosed with it since I was 16yrs old. I also had the surgury 3 days before my 17th b-day.

Anywhoo, talk to your ob/gyn about these issues. Get a doctor who specializes in endometriosis/fibroids etc. These doctors know about this disease through and through, and they will be the most helpful in getting you the correct treatment.

Endometriosis is a very hard disease to diagnose. Many women with Endo don't even have symptoms. They can range from non-existant, to extreme. Not to scare you, but you could have any sort of disease. There is endometriosis, fibroids, cysts, STDs too. I know you said they always came back negative, but which std did your doc test you for? Get a check for Chlamyddia (sp) cause that can give you the symptoms that you are experiencing as well.

Yeah I've had it since 16 as well. How ODD!
Anyways, yes, go to at the very least a good gyno. If you need another look at, they can refer you to someone else. The bad part about seeing a specialist (at least up here in Canada) is that you have to wait FOREVER to be seen and then if you have it, have the laser surgery. And I agree with everything CK said.
    Good luck!

Yes, but see that is what I like about seeing a specialist. I feel more comfortable calling a doc who is "booked" rather that someone who always has open appointments. Having open appointments all the time makes me feel like you must not be that good of a doctor. Good doctors STAY BUSY.

A specialist is almost necessary if it comes out that you have this disease. I hope you don't, but in the event that you do, please see someone who dedicates their practice to this disease.

thanks for the advice, i have been tested for all differnt types stds yearly since i was 18 (im just cautious,im not a sex worker or anything, and i would highly recomend annual tests, i dont feel like i need to worry in the back of my mind about hiv or anything like that) ive gotten blood tests, and tests from a vaginal swab, and i do see the doctor and get a full pelvic exam yearly.

i have been having symptoms for years so i feel pretty sure that its not anything super serious or i would probably be dead by now. i just thought that i was having normal period symptoms, i had talked about the pain and bleeding when i was younger with my doctor and they just said since it was consistant every period it was normal. i didnt know that any of these things could be not normal!

well hopfully i can find a good doctor i can work with.

Are you wondering if the women who do have it, also used the tampons with rayon and bleached cotton?

Try doing a poll for you guys and see what the results are.

Maybe we could try doing it on a much larger scale and maybe there is enough evidence to support a major lawsuit!!!!
