    Good.

School is for science, church is for creationism.

Good. Those people want to teach everyone else's kid that the planet is only like 5,000 years old and that dinosaurs did not exist.

I had a bio teacher who tried to slide creationism into our curriculum in High School...exactly what Scarlett said, go to church if that is what you are looking for.

It will pass. Martin Luther and the Pope snarled at the Copernican model, and here we are today, with nary a rational person who espouses that the earth is the center of the universe. The people who want to mix in religion with knowledge get louder as they get more insecure. Then as more knowledge comes out on a specific issue, the opposition dwindles and finally blinks out. It will pass.

sometimes, thanks to rulings like this, I actually have hope for our culture.

but only so much. At my last visit to my GP he noticed that I was reading Bakker's The Dinosaur Heresies. he proceeded to explain to me that Dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time and that they were destroyed in Noah's flood. All of which convinced me that I needed to get a new doctor.

Well done Mr. Zeno, that was very succinct stated.

I must ahve had a very progressive catholic education, b/c 25 years ago, I was taught evolution as the only actaul scientific model of creation (for lack of a better word). I didn't even know anybody was still trying to teach creationism until it made the news. It seems weird to me.

I came to the intellighent design school of thought on my own whyen I was in college (the 3 rd time, I think) but NEVER had that presented to me as any kind of formal cirriculum. However, I do know that the idea of intellighent design is far from new.

Regardless of my won thinking, I agree with the judge wh said that intellighent design is more a matter of faith than science. Good for him for taking the unpopular but (I believe) jsut side of the argument.

If intelligent design can be tested/reviewed with scientific method (observation, hypothesis, research, etc.) then I am OK with it. Similarly, there are parts of evolution which can't be totally walked through scientific method (similarities in DNA between species and fossils doesn't prove how it got there)...but people can keep trying.

Bottom line, anything that can be studied with sci method CAN be called science.

If anything like this is ever taught in a science class, it should be in an introductory session, maybe 1 class long, about the social objections to science in a history of science segment (Galileo etc.). Science is about observables and testing hypotheses, or at least about the results of such experimentation. It is just not possible to do this with creationism or the supposition that a supreme being is responsible for everything, or a part of everything.

Next thing is they'll be teaching astrology in the astronomy class. We need more people in the sciences, not more people objecting to science as being in the way of their own personal beliefs.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
