I got the impression that people thought that you thought you would appeal to black guys, not that you were racist.
Here's the reality about your target market....yes , you will appeal to black guys (not all, but a lot...and some other guys who like big girls.) So will all the other big girls. There are a lot of them dancing, especially in the lower tier clubs because the middle and upper tier clubs won't hire them. So you have a lot of girls that appeal to a small proportion of the customers (who, generally don't spend/tip as much.)
Not all guys like thin women, but that's where you're going to see the best ratio of guys who like that type to the number of girls who are that type. And by thin, I don't mean too skinny.
There are exceptional dancers who are have a few extra pounds and bank. these girls are very poised, well-spoken and have good sales skills.

Crash diets will make you thin for a month and then fat for a year as your body's metabolism slows down.
Go to a gym, work out your muscles, get buff -- you will stay the same *weight* but you will drop sizes and flab like mad.
I lost weight before I went back to dancing but I did it healthy with working out and eating right.... I work with buffie and can totally agree that she looks better than 90% of our size 8's easily. I was a 11/12 when I left dancing and am now a 5/6 and it is still hard to keep off. Buffie your a total hottie!
black guys like big girls or any girl but i think its unfair to say they like big girls just because they have meat on them. im pretty sure thy like the big girls to have a shape on them too. sometimes there is a difference between being big and being voloptous..i think if your curvy and big it can be sexy but not not just "big".
Im 5'6 140LBS size 12 but I'd like to think alot of its muscule alot of ppl say the same thing that its muscule weight. As long as your stomach doesnt shake I think your fine just tone a little bit particularly in thigh and stomach area....Try to use body resistance versus weights because thats what your going to be using when you dance. Another dancer told me to do squats, streching, calf raises,etc...cuz those are moves incorporating dancing muscules...
i couldnt really tell your size, but from your pictures you have a really pretty face, and i dont say that without meaning it!

I didn't ask if I was fat,
because I know I'm not.
I asked if I was too fat to be a dancer.
Thanks for the constructive critisism though.
About the pics,
as soon as I get some they'll be posted.
I'm all curves, and I've been told many times
I have a cute body.
I'm just now looking into this dancing thing
and I'm not quite sure how it works yet.
I used to be a runner,
so I'm working out like I'm traing for a marathon.
I also naturally have a lot of muscle.
I just need to tone up and lose some of my chunk.
I've been doing squats, jogging, swimming laps, and some yoga stretches.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas
on how I can lose fat but not gain to much more muscle

Ah, I know the feeling. The other day at work a girl said I had a Double-D booty, and I thought that was the nicest compliment I've ever had. The thing is, it's just like with large, lovely boobs -- you can have DDs and a 40 inch waist, and that's not really all that hot. But if you ahve DDs and a 30 or 28 inch waist or whatever, the guys will be lining up down the block.Originally Posted by gucceegirl

My hips will never go below a 7-8, even if I starved myself like the apocolypse had come. But men (no matter what race) aren't fooled by a big booty even if it turns them on. You'll get dances, but not as many as you would with a smaller tummy and waist. I think you should go audition as soon as you feel good about yourself, and know that as time goes on and your weight goes down, you'll be making more and more flow.
Now I gotta go follow my own advice and do some pilates.

You in my experince it really doesn't matter all that much. Well as far as money goes. When I started dancing I was nineteen years old, five three, and one hundred and fourty pounds, size 10 with a B cup. I made more money then than I do now at one fifteen with new Double D's. I think I look better now, my attitude and self image are better also. But my money isn't all that different. I looked at your pics and I think you are a beautiful girl. Men all like different things, The hardest part of dancing and not looking like a barbie is the attitudes of the other girls. You will get wise cracks, but I wouldn't let that discourage you. When it comes down to your size, proportion is where it's at. I love the romanisc build, the types you see in the old nude paintings. You look like a classic beauty, if you can keep a smile on your face and hold your head up, you'll do as well as anyone else.![]()

Billy, I read in another post you started dancing in 1999. It was easier for everyone to make money then, and before then. Since 2000-2001 it's continually gotten harder and harder. I'm willing to bet if you had the same body now that you had in 1999, you wouldn't be making as much money now. Sales skills also make a difference, and the whole 'newbie money' thing.
Yes. Most guys will prefer and spend more money on thinner women.Originally Posted by Emily
Exactly. You can be bigger with a nice hourglass shape and still be fucken hot and make money. But being bigger with a fat gut and rolls is a different thing.Originally Posted by tenshigirl25

You could start dancing just at any old place, that way you'll lose weight off of the dancing and get practice. And that will give you incentive to keep losing weight, you'll want to look good in your new outfits and keep making a profit. Besides it's fun. In the meantime there are ways to look slimmer. Taller shoes add height and slim your legs. Cover trouble spots. Like if you have big boobs, a corset top can flatten your gut. If you have hips, wear booty shorts and get a long weave. Yeah find a black place, especially since you say you're mixed and if you have a southern accent then that's good convo with the bros.

You asked if you were too fat to dance. You also said you were 5'4" and in a size 13.Originally Posted by gucceegirl

You also said you can't get smaller than a size 8. I find that very strange since we are the same height, and a size 8 on me would make me look like a cow.
So yes in my opinion you are too big.
I say that since I have been dancing for over 11yrs now and I see girls in the Dr all the time that are smaller than you are and bawling that they don't make money since they are told by the men they are too fat. (and the guys will be nice about it, the other girls will not)
You didn't say how much you weigh, but I can tell you the best thing for you to do I loose the inches and the fat.
Being a dancer is not a right for every girl on the planet. It's for the ones that look the best with the best personalitys and that can handle the job.
i think you just need to find the right club. it seems like starting in vagas would be hard no matter how you looked! i work in mass, at a lower end club, but there is alot of earning potential for girls with good personalitys that can sell. we have some big girls working hear who bank! mabey you could find a club like that to start in. the truth is, if you can find your nitch at a smaller club, you really dont need to go through the stress of busting your ass in vagas for less consistent earnings.
<S> BI haven't even read the post - the question is enough. The simple answer is: If you have to ask, you are.
This universal truth should be a sticky.
And before anyone jumps in with that retarded "men like variety" fallacy, let's acknowledge that it's true--as I'd noted in another thread on the Blue Side, men indeed like variety when it looks like Bridgette, TFD or NinaDaisy, but not when the girls look like the "Before" photos from a Hydroxycut advertisement.
Fat you say? Hmmm...could I caliper you sometime?I'm 5'4" at 123lbs in a size 3 jeans and I still get called fat. I'm sitting at around 16.5% body fat. (like anyone with a size 34D and 3 butt can be fat?!)![]()

(and please, anyone who responds to this, keep in mind that AT NO POINT have I ever asked if I am too fat to dance. I don't want any opinions on this (unless they are neutral to positive. Those opinion I can deal with). I am not opening a hunting season on my self esteem. Clear?) When I first went abroad I got very lonely and forgot to eat, and lost 12 pounds, and went down to a size 6 - and I was really thin. Not quite gross thin, but getting there. If I were to extrapolate, I would have to be under 100 pounds to get down to size 3. Which is kind of thin for someone 5'5". My point is that someone else may A) wear a different brand of clothes that measures size differently B) just have a different body type that is not a size 3, even if they do match size/weight, or some combination of the two.
CO and Bridgitte: would you care to share that tidbit of wisdom with the young ladies in the LO and Lounge and Body Business who are suffering from BDD and eating disorders? If neither of you have ever looking to someone else for reassurance then you are ridiculously conceited, and if you have then maybe you could extend a little empathy?
That being said: anyone who is posting about whether or not they are pretty enough/thin enough/ whatever enough to be a dancer: some people are going to say yes and some people are going to say no (coincidentally, just like in the damn clubs). You are not likely to come to any conclusive finding here, unless you are one of the posers who post professional pics and then try to tell us that you are scared newbies. You've already made up your bloody mind anyway, so just get on with it.

Girl, if you think you can get up on stage feeling like your fat, then go for it, or wait and lose some more weight until you would feel comfortable getting naked in a room full of critiqes. Good luck either way.

~ my very own pole dancer!
hi
i know im a newbie, (ive got about 2 months experience at a topless club in Michigan)
but i know that you dancing is not for the weak. I am 5'0 and 110 lbs and am decently toned (if i dont eat anything for the day). and i STILL had a customer tell me to lay off the fast food. he was dead serious. i also had plenty of other rude comments from the customers. It pissed me off at first, but i got over it. his opinion wasnt going to make or break me, so who cares.
So now if you tell the truth about girls that don't have the body for stripping (or the accompanying confidence/attitude), you're somehow encouraging eating disorders? And if you respond to a direct question with an honest, tactful and direct answer you have no empathy and therefore suffer from conceit and arrogance? This is a ridiculous leap of logic.CO and Bridgitte: would you care to share that tidbit of wisdom with the young ladies in the LO and Lounge and Body Business who are suffering from BDD and eating disorders?

I'm gonna pipe up here because we all know I like em bigger. I think you could slim down a bit, it's really hard to tell from the tiny pics ya posted, but you have a pretty face and if you have the attitude and confidence then you can dance.
I've seen women as large as tons of fun and as thin as twiggy dance, some did well at "lower tier" clubs while others did well in medium tier clubs, none of the larger women I know do well in upper tier clubs however.
I have to say that the idea of getting a dance from a twig does NOTHING for me...Bridgette is as thin as I go these days and she can tell ya how many times I've ever seen her dance: 0
