Holy crap, I've been hit with a tension headache EVERY day this week! Does anyone else get them and if so how do you deal with it?

I have 4 kids and then I go to work as an SCDJ. I am well versed in the tension headache, sir. I have success with many different things to relieve them. I take a nice warm/hot shower and let it beat on my neck, and then I do slow neck rolls in circles. This works really well for me. Alternately, a warm towel will do the same thing if a shower isnt available. Sometimes just a temple massage for about 5 minutes works, too. That Excedrin Migraine/Tension Headache stuff works pretty well, also, though I try to avoid taking stuff unless I am in serious pain.
(I also sometimes do a little meditation, or just some full body stretching type exercises. Most of my tension seems to settle in my neck/shoulders, so anything along those lines always works.)
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
i just popped 4 excedrin th's...I'm gopin they kick in cuz the shiatsu massage isn't working, of course it's a lil hard to use accupressure on yourself(just can't seem to relax and trust me not to hurt me)..ah well off to hit the heatin pad.
EDIT: ok the shiatsu DOES work, I just need to work on patience.....

yes, I was actually getting them once or twice a week since Fall (haven't had one this month tho thank goodness) Really the only thing that helped me was a combonation of pain reliever, water, and EXTRA SLEEP! Good luck! Headaches suck!

Get a back and shoulder massage. They knock those SOB's right out.

If you're going to be taking painkillers regularly, remember that excedrin has acetominophen in it, and don't drink alcohol -- that can take out your liver very quickly. Aspirin by itself is safer.
I have this problem too. Massages & BC Powder are life savers.

If you have a good doctor, he/she can do a quick trigger point injection to instantaneously relieve a persistent tension headache.

First: Sit on a chair and put your left ankle over your right ankle. Put your hands out in front of you back to back and put your right hand over your left hand and interlock fingers, then fold your hands in to your chest. When you breath in, put your tongue up on the roof of your mouth, when you breath out, put it down. Do for two minutes.
Then do the shiatsu massage on the back of your neck.
I've been a victim of tension/cluster/migraine headaches for years (earliest I remember getting migraines is 8, tension around 12, clusters are fairly new)
Anyhow with tension headaches if the usual hot shower and Advil don't work i'll resort to Flexeril if they get severe enough. It's the only thing that ever really knocked them out. *shrug*

I do the S. massage, & Tiger Balm, also hot showers
