It's not settled but it's over.....buses and subways should be back and mostly running by morning rush hour. Both sides are headed back into negotiations, but at least this walking/gridlock traffic crap is over!![]()

What to say ! hmm doesnt bother me a bit ! oh well

You're right that all this means is that the transit workers agreed to go back to work rather than see union leadership go to jail. Of course part of the new agreement is a press blackout on contract talks - so New Yorkers won't know just how much of a pay raise or benefit package the city will actually be 'giving away' to avoid another strike, or how much taxes and fares will have to increase to fund it.Originally Posted by Bridgette
Unfortunately, the reality is that in New York at least, 'civil service' unions are alive and well, the reality is that politicians know that union support makes or breaks elections, and the reality is that taxes and costs of living will keep rising even higher in order for the state to keep providing these sort of wages and benefits. Of course, a different reality is that private businesses and middle class taxpayers were already leaving the state in droves because of the high tax rates and high costs of living, and this latest union 'settlement' only proves that they made the right decision to leave !

I heard last night on the news that 5 restuarants have filed lawsuits against the union for lost profits. Wonder how much more we'll see of that?
