ive read that its just a stimulant, and not very safe.
A lot of diet pills now contain bitter orange because it has Synephrine.
Apparently, this is a safer alternative to Ephedra (which was banned, but is now legal again). However, I don't know how much testing has been done on synephrine, so I can't say whether it's 100% safe.
I've tried both ephedra-based and synephrine-based products. In my opinion, ephedra products work better. HOWEVER (and this is a huge however) the ephedra based products are harder on your system. It feels like you're on speed. You get jittery and light headed, but have a ton of energy. While this is good for weight loss (because you feel like being really active) your body gets worn out pretty quick. That leads to taking more and more pills, which can eventually lead to an addiction.
The bitter orange pills didn't give me a jittery side effect. They also didn't make me feel like getting up and moving around like the ephedra ones, so I didn't lose as much weight on them. Personally, I liked an ephedra/synephrine combination pill because it wasn't as hard on my system, but still gave me results.
A couple things to note though:
-These products are both stimulants that can be taxing on your body. Use them in moderation and NEVER defer from the instructions on the label.
-You may find that getting to sleep is harder. I know I went through bouts of insomnia while on ephedra. If that happens, take a break from the pills or your body will get worn out.
-make sure that your pills aren't going to interfere with any of your other medication
-Don't use pills as an excuse to cut back on exercise. The best way to lose weight is first and foremost through healthy diet and exercise.
-If you get headaches from the pills, it might be because they contain too much caffeine. If that happens, stop taking them and look for a brand with less caffeine.
-Research the brand and other ingredients listed on the label. It'll give you a better idea of what you're putting into your body.
Lastly, remember to be safe and use common sense when taking diet pills. If you have a bad experience, it's better to put the pills away than to risk overdosing.
Hope some of that helps and goodluck with your weight loss!
-Katrina.
