    hey,

i'm a new to dancing and my club doesn't clean the stages or the poles. girls have told me that two dancers have gotten staph infection from the stage and had to miss weeks of work. the money is good at this club and i like the place, how can we get them to start cleaning the stage?

I've worked in clubs that didn't clean their stages properly.. So I went in early one night and cleaned it myself.. After that they paid more attention to the stage.
Also watch out for cleaning agents, one club I worked in made EVERYONE break out because the cleaning agents weren't mixed properly.
Windex is always my friend. I've even cleaned while dancing before (it was slow) and guys got a kick out of it.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Contracting a staph infection is highly unlikely unless you have an open wound that comes into contact with the bacteria. Then, the infection can enter your blood stream and manifest itself anywhere on your body and in a few different forms. I know. I had one. I did not get it from work**--I was already not working then--but from a poorly maintained swimming pool. It was an uphill battle to treat it and I was finally cured after 3 rounds of antibiotics. I was able to return to work 3 1/2 weeks ago after not working (most of the time I wouldn't have been able to work) for 2 1/2 months.

Ladies: It is very important to practice hand washing and good hygiene. A staph infection if ignored or left untreated can lead to more serious illnesses, such as toxic shock syndrome. In addition, they are becoming increasingly difficult to treat in normally healthy adults.

**One of the girls at my club also had a staph infection which she is positive she got from the pole.

I always clean the pole myself before every stage. As for the floor you could sweep it at the start of your shift.
It is strange how someplaces make sure the stage and pole is clean and how some don't care. But the ones that don't care are not about to start no matter how much the girls bitch(but I would still bitch if your doing the cleaning your self). I guess because they are not up there they don't think it should matter.

My suggestion is to clean the pole before your set each time! And if the floor is dirty go in early and clean it...if managment doesn't care then make a list and have the girls write down which day they'll clean it. I'm sure someone else besides you will help out. If not than I guess it's better for you to look out for yourself than not clean it at all! I went in the other night early and cleaned the pole, the handle bars in our booths, and what ever else i could think of lol! (energy drinks)
i'd complain about it, and then i'd take it into my own hands....because really....what's an extra 10 minutes of you cleaning it if it means you'll be safer and cleaner?

i have no problem cleaning the pole before each of my sets...but i'm afraid my manager will bitch at me for doing it because he is the kind of person who will find a problem with anything like he would say:

"the men come here and pay so much money to see a fantasy...not you cleaning the poles!"

my boyfriend is a wrestler and told me to get this antibacterial foam that provides a barrier over you skin until you shower. I'm thinking of getting a community can for the dressing room.

Clean it in a sexy way--wrap the towel around the pole and rub it up and down slowly, bending at the waist only.

Yeah just do it your self if they are not willing to help..i work in a tattoo shop and snagged some madacide (kills virtually all bacteria in seconds...as opposed to things like bleach and windex that dont do anything at all) I soak a little hand towel and wipe the pole in one swipe when my set starts and then fling it behind me....while dancing, only my knees, hands and backside tough the floor and pole...just cover an open wound and dont put your fingers in your mouth until they are washed and you will be fine

hmm... at my club, in the corner of the stage , they have a nice basket in which they keep a bottle of rubbing alchohol, and a roll of papertowels... you go out and you clean the pole, then you do your set! Personally, I am known to carry around tiny bottles of purell and lysol hand packets.... they are GREAT, and have so far kept me free from any cold of illness i could potentially catch at the club... if its a problem, then you should bring it up in the dressing room, and have other dancers go to management about it. thats not safe or cleanly to be working in a filthy environment, especially when your more susseptible to catching something with clothes off...

I wipe the pole before I dance every set. Most of the time I have Paul pour me a shot of well gin on a clean rag and wipe it with that. If anything can withstand a shot of well gin, then it's a reslilant little fucker, lol!
