Interesting study results here...(if not OK to post I can get the link found in Google news)

    Web Study Reflects Gender Gap

Report shows men want more news and porn, while women seek understanding.

American men consume more news, sports, stock data, and porn on the web, while women focus more on communicating, directions, health, and religion, according to a study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

The report, published Wednesday by the Washington-based research group, also showed that women in the United States still lag behind men in overall Internet usage, but black women and women under 30 tend to use the Internet far more than their male peers.

A slightly higher percentage of men (68 percent) use the Internet than women (66 percent), but because there are more women in the U.S. than men, the number of women on the web is slightly larger than the number of men, the study said.

More black women are online (60 percent) than black men (50 percent). Women age 18 to 29 post some of the highest online percentages at 86 percent. Their male counterparts lag behind at 80 percent.

Only 25 percent of women 65 and older are on the web, while 34 percent of male seniors are online.

Men are generally more intense about their Internet usage than women. They log on more often, spend more time online, and are more likely to be broadband users. Men are also more likely to try new Internet-related technologies.

On a typical day 67 percent of men are online, while 64 percent of women are surfing the web. They also do fairly different things online.

Men are more likely to check the weather, read the news, get do-it-yourself information, check for sports information, get political and financial information, do job-related research, download software, listen to music, download music files, use a webcam, take a class, and rate a product, person, or service through an online reputation system.

    Women Communicate More

Women are more likely to use email, get maps and directions, look for health and medical information, use web sites to get support for health or personal problems, and find religious information.

Women prefer online communication so they use email more intensely. Women use email to communicate on a wider range of topics than men. While women write to friends, men are more likely to write to various organizations.

Men and women are equally likely to buy products online, but men participate in online auctions, bill paying, and stock trading at a higher rate than women.

Men are more likely to use the Internet as a source of recreation. They are more likely to pursue their hobbies online, read for pleasure, and participate in sports fantasy leagues.

"If there is an overall pattern of differences here, it is that men value the Internet for the breadth of experiences it offers, and women value it for the human connections," said Deborah Fallows, senior research fellow at the Pew Internet Project, who authored the new report, How Women and Men Use the Internet.

Men are far more likely to be responsible for home computer maintenance, at 68 percent, versus 45 percent for women. Half of men have changed their browser home page versus 34 percent of women.

Surprisingly, among online women, 58 percent say they don’t need or want the Internet. Only 45 percent of online men say the same thing.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

I can go without for days on end, like when the computer is down, and I get a little more done. But eventually I will return; it is too useful (and fun) for me to ignore.
