Anyone know how to do this?
I've used Imani's Coppola's Legend of a Cowgirl with Fade into You by Mazzy Star, but am looking for more non-country cowboy themed songs (country doesn't fly out here). Maybe techno remixes or something?
Help!

"Wild, Wild West"--Escape Club
"I Wanna be a Cowboy"--Boys Don't Cry (the lyrics to this are funny as hell, and it's a great dance song if you like 80's music.
"Ride the White Horse"--Laid Back (This one is about heroin, but it would work, and it's a great song)
"Pony"--Genuine
I know there's a lot more, but I have gotten so little sleep recently, lol...
You could use "Cowboy" by Kid Rock, but that's been played to death--I try to avoid it.
Later--maybe that song from the "Wild Wild West" soundtrack? That CD has some other pretty good stuff on it as well, if you like the less hard-edged hip-hop/R & B stuff.
There's an R&B singer, female, who does a sexy song called "Do you Wanna Ride", I think--someone here will know, I'm sure. I have it, but I left my book of R&B at the club.
Philly DJ wiil have a gigantic list for us, I'm sure--he's famous for that.
You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.

Bon Jovi "Wanted Dead or Alive" or something like that.
Rodeo by Aaron Copeland. It's the "Beef for Dinner" theme. Emerson Lake & Palmer did a great rendition of it. You probably can't dance to it, but I love it and had to mention.
"Desperado" by the Eagles.
"Against the Wind" by Bob Seger. (There's just one line, "Let the cowboys ride... against the wind," so it's a stttrreeeeettttccccchhhhh, but I'm trying.)
Joss Stone does a song called Don't cha wanna ride, Escape Club did a song called wild wild west, my personal favorite for wild wild west songs is Kool Moe Dee's version of wild wild westOriginally Posted by Djoser
I third the suggestion of "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" (Boys Don't Cry) and "Wild Wild West" (Kool Moe Dee). I'm going to do that one myself once I finally get the right outfit. That's one of my favorite sets to dance to at home.

"Space Cowboy" by Jamiroquai
it was a 90's hit, I think it may be fun to dance and has the line
"This is the return
Of the space cowboy.."
in chorus.
ciao :-)
Cotton eye joe - Rednex
Cowboy - Bow wow wow
Chad Weston
Male Stripper / Dancer / Entertainer
classic rock songs with a country feel could work just as well at places like Mugs or the Caddy. CCR - Bad Moon Rising, Eagles - Heartache Tonight, Steve Earl - Copperhead Road... something like that?
The Cowboy Song Thin Lizzy
We can move with savage grace to the rhythms of the night
Cool and remote like dancing girls, in the heat of the beat and the lights
Can you really not do it to counrty music?? I was thinking about doing a cowgirl thing to Honkey Tonk Badonkadonk. But is doing it to country wrong??

I can tell you about older stuff...
Marty Robbins (El Paso, Streets of Laredo, Big Iron)
Tex Ritter (John's father) - High Noon, Jingle Jangle
Frankie Laine (Rawhide, Gunfight at OK Corral, Mule Train)
Want more?...
I even have the mp3 files.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

I can't remember who sings it, but you'd probably like "You Don't Dance to Techno Anymore." It has country elements, but a great dance beat. It's my favorite song this week.![]()
No...but in downtown Vancouver, they're not usually too impressed. I did a honky tonk set a few months back at a busy downtown club around midnight, and I'm surprised I didn't get fired- the manager ran out of the office with a horrifed look on his face and just stared at me, lol.Can you really not do it to counrty music?? I'm going to add to the list:
- Blaze of Glory, Bon Jovi
-Round up by Blu Cantrell (it's a bad song, but useable)
- Boom Boom, Britney (^ditto)

How about "Ghost of a Texas Ladies Man" by Concrete Blonde.
Most people live dejectedly in wordly joys or sorrows. They sit on the sidelines and do not join in the dance. The knights of infinity are dancers and possess elevation. They rise up and fall down again, and this is no mean pastime, nor unpleasant to behold.

Depends on just how classical western, as I've demonstrated, you want to be, rather than how modern-western, which I cannot help with much. I'd guess it depends on the age of your audience, but if it is older, not many members seem to be helping you. Young whipper-snappers.

a girl the other day had this fantastic techno song with clips from "rhinestone cowgirl" it was really good.
I dance in Nashville, TN so I can offer some GREAT insight on this topic!
You are always pretty safe with any kind of old country. Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Charlie Daniels, Bo Seafus, etc.
I think the more modern country really only works well.... here. This is, after all, the country music capitol of the world!!!
I dance to Johnny Cash "Folsom Prison Blues" a lot and Patsy Cline's "Crazy" and I can get away with most slow songs by female artists like Faith Hill but even I don't dance to all the Garth Brooks stuff.
This is especially cute with something simple like a denim bikini. That takes the honky tonk theme out of your set.
I was thinking about this question today... and thought of a bunch of songs. But now that I'm here I'm completly blanking....
What about that Cowboy song by Kid Rock??
I'll post more when I can remember![]()
