    Default wannabe with braces

Hi, I'm thinking about auditioning but am wondering if my braces are going to be a problem. I had to get them (again as an adult) after an accident and they make me look ridiculously young (I've been told like 14-15 even though I'm 21)

I don't think they really show unless I smile...and I doubt I'd be flashing many huge toothy grins.

Anyone ever seen a stripper with braces?

And, btw do customers dig girls who look like they are still in HS or is that creepy?

With some guys braces = money. Wear school girls outfits and put your hair in pig tails. Skip around the club. Tell customers you're an underage runaway and you had to blow somebody to get the fake I.D. to apply at the club.

Seriously, the little girl thing will go a long way with certain guys. On the other hand, some will try to manipulate you, since you're (presumably) so naive and inexperienced. (I have always looked 5-6 years younger than I am, and get a lot of this as well. Sometimes I feel like I can't wait to look older, so I can get some respect.) If you are wily and play everything right, you can learn to make this work for you. On the other hand, if you really ARE naive and inexperienced, you'll be a target for all sorts of head-fucking.

There is always at least one girl that looks like she's too young to be there. And they don't appeal to most customers, but they appeal to some....and youv'e got that market cornered with the braces!

Don't be afraid to smile. It will make you seem more sincere

    LOL I love it.

I'm glad to hear the school girl routine will go a long way. I'm trying to figure out what the hell to wear to audition and thought it might be overused.(Although, when thinking about the handful of clubs I've visited I've never seen anyone do it.)

I'm definately inexperienced as a dancer but definately not naive to guy's head games. I'm worried that if the whole young routine will make me a target then I should just try to blend in until I understand the club more. Oh well, I'm sure I'll pick it all up quickly.....I'm a fast learner.

    Thanks!!!

I had braces for 2 years while dancing and I was about 27. It didnt affect my money negatively at all. I didnt look like a teenager, so it didnt give me that schoolgirl charm as it could well do in your case. I did have a few customers say they liked it as it reminded them of the first girl they kissed in school etc etc. It also was a good converational piece, so many guys had braces as teenagers and it gives them something to talk to/ relate to you about. Just keep'em clean and shiny, hee hee.

I know a lot of girls that have braces and dance with them... they have the clear ones so you cant see them too well in the dark. Didnt seem to hinder their $$ making abilities. OTOH if the braces make you feel self concious THAT may hinder making money. Guys dont like insecure girls.

um i have braces and do rather well. I have a womans figure so i dont get the "barely legal" shit.

Instead I get the " glad to see a woman that invests her money" or ..." good to see someone that takes care of their teeth"

I get more compliments in taking care of myself, pity talks about how bad they suck etc etc.

The schoolgirl costume - plaid skirt, etc. - is definitely overdone, in my opinion. But you could wear cute girly stuff and maybe pigtails. I would fling tons of money your way and definitely buy some dances. I think braces are adorable.

Oh boy, lots of responses! You guys are so sweet!

Tart, I'm so glad to hear that you get compliments on taking care of yourself. I find it retarded that some girls refuse to get braces because they don't like the way it looks. Id rather have braces for a year (as well as straight teeth) than loose teeth to something correctable and having to wear dentures forever.

I think my metal mouth is cute. I'm thinking about trying pig tails when I audition but I feel a little insecure about doing the whole school girl routine. I'll try to wear something cute/ flirty though. As long as I don't try to be terribly serious or a total vixen I think I'll be fine.

Next step....finding a place to audition....or maybe an amature night. I've never seen an amature night but I'm thinking it might be a place to start since I won't be able to start dancing for another month or two (I'm having oral surgery in the beginning of Feb. woo hoo!) Anyone know of one in the LA/Orange Co. area? ...Gosh, I'm rambling now.

    Anyways - Thanks again y'all!

    I would say

If you dance and have braces and MAYBE dress like a school girl, don't let mr_punk know where you work.

I honestly think if you play up the young look with it, you'll get a lot of old people money.

braces are cute and i agree - they make you look like you care for urself! i would play on it with the school girls costume or on the other hand dress lke any other dancer would do in your club and not attract big attention to them!1

either way i see braces as an asset both short term (dancing wise) and long term (straight teeth)

    Good luck with your audition

Ooh that's really exciting to hear! Do they play up the braces thing (go for the school girl look in terms of dress and hair, etc) or does no-one notice them at all?

I've got braces right now and I don't look exactly young for my age either (I'm 21) so I don't know whether I should go for that look or not. From the above posts so far, it seems that an equal amount of guys love and hate the look. Which type of the two would have more money to burn? I think that's the main thing I'm interested in.

@ the "wack biker chick" reference! Yeah, it's just different strokes for different folks I guess.

I'm going to try both looks and gauge the responses of both, that's the best way to go about it the way I see it.

i had braces when i started dancing at 18. i wore them for the first year and a half of my dancing.

i'm not going to bullshit you... it SUCKED. i was constantly being told, "what's that shit on your teeth?" or "fuck off, i don't want no metalmouth dancing for me". i became very self concious about my braces and it was really, really hard.

however, there's always going to be assholes in strip clubs. and those assholes are always going to pick on something. braces just make an easy target for them. if it's not your braces, it's your weight, or your small boobs, or your hair colour, or your nose, or your height.

i hated my braces a lot of the time, but i still made great money and apart from the occasional rude comment, they didn't impact my work that much.

As a customer who loves eye contact and a great smile I've never has a problem with seeing braces on a dancer. Personally I'd rather see braces than a whole mouthfull of crooked teeth.

Do you already have them in? You can always ask your othodontist to use the clear ones vs. the metal ones to help hide them a bit more.

You can go with the barely legal look if you want, but please don't feel like you're limited to that just because you have braces.
If you can't win. Make the fellow in front of you break the record.

Don't worry about the braces.I know some girls who were dancing with them, and they did fine, didn't affect the money at all.In fact, one of them said, that guys thought that she was younger than she really was because of them.

    Good luck!

Heehee, too funny! I always tell guys, "Some girls want big boobs, I wanted straight teeth" (since I don't need any help in the boobie dept.) That's where my $4000 went, and stripping paid for it. I couldn't tell you if it has affected my money or not.... I don't like to play up the school girl look- way overdone. I wear stuff that compliments me regardless of the braces... I get them off in January. Good luck to you and your soon to be perfect teeth.
